Biography

The contract with Randur

Orion approaches aid as a transaction, demanding payment before helping locate a human and maneuvering within Inferno's contentious elder council. He later conspires with Randur over Jomnuk Dramegrip under what Orion believes is a binding mana contract, and he is amused when the arrangement appears to authorize Jomnuk's killing. Randur instead exploits the agreement's structure and concealed loopholes against him. Orion's confidence gives way too late, and Randur kills the elder at the scheme's conclusion. Appearance and personality

Orion is an elderly duergar with thin white hair and a monocle. He is shrewd, mercenary and smug when he believes written terms favor him, but his rivalry and appetite for advantage make him underestimate an equally deceptive negotiator. (Chapters 336–364)

The chapters establish Orion's authority as an Inferno elder and his familiarity with mana contracts, political bargaining and hidden conditions.
