Nuolan Shan

Nuolan Shan is the founding ancestor and principal warrior of the Nuolan Shan family. A universe-level fighter hardened by the Huge Axe Dojo's life-and-death battles, he drives his family's attempt to seize Earth and its treasures, then abandons his home and goes into hiding when Luo Feng's rising status makes retaliation inevitable.

Biography

The attempt to take Earth

The Nuolan Shan family's explorers discover Earth and report treasures far beyond the value of an ordinary aboriginal planet. Nuolan Shan takes control after the younger family heads fail to secure it. He orders the fleet not to touch a particularly dangerous object, promises promotion to officers who complete his commands, and focuses the invasion on the Automaton ship and other remains. His motive is openly material: ownership of Earth would let the family exploit or sell treasures capable of transforming its shallow foundation. (Chapters 294–307 and 311–314)

Earth's legal purchase by Luo Feng blocks a simple annexation, so Nuolan Shan confronts Luo Feng, Hong, and Thunder God in the virtual Killing Fields. He uses his higher experience and rank to overpower the three, then tries coercion and a gambling match to obtain control of the planet. Luo Feng answers by naming the lives lost to the family's invasion and refuses to treat greed as legitimate authority. Nuolan Shan cannot refute the accusation, and his effort to turn superior strength into a lawful claim fails. (Chapters 317–320)

Failed expeditions and retreat

Nuolan Shan does not relinquish Earth's hidden value after the first setback. He sends his strongest disciple, Bai Kaluo, and the family head De Wen toward Earth with orders to seize the Automaton ship before alerting the planet and, if possible, kill Luo Feng. He is confident enough in Bai Kaluo's talent to expect success, but Luo Feng's defenders kill De Wen and subdue Bai Kaluo. When neither reports back, Nuolan Shan destroys the furnishings around him in rage and fear, correctly realizing that the opponent now commands at least universe-level protection and that a personal trip would probably accomplish nothing. The genius battle turns that military failure into an existential threat. Nuolan Shan watches Luo Feng's rank rise, hopes the contestant is merely someone with the same name, and eventually understands that the Earthling has become a Virtual Universe Company core member. He leaves his family palace for a remote planet because discovery would make him as easy to kill as an ant. Unwilling to spend the rest of his life concealed, he finally chooses to leave the star field for a battlefield where dangerous combat might give him the only chance to grow beyond Luo Feng. Appearance and personality

Nuolan Shan has red eyes and is shown wearing either a dark-green battle uniform or a long robe. He is proud of his Battle-Axe title and of Bai Kaluo's talent, but greed and caution coexist in him. He bullies weaker opponents when Earth seems vulnerable, repeatedly looks for indirect ways to acquire its treasures, and retreats immediately once Luo Feng's institutional protection becomes overwhelming. His final decision to seek a battlefield also shows the ruthless resolve that once carried him through one thousand life-and-death matches. (Chapters 317–320, 373, 378, and 432)

Nuolan Shan is a universe level 9 warrior who earned the Battle-Axe title in the Huge Axe Dojo by surviving one thousand life-and-death battles. That record makes him far stronger than Luo Feng, Hong, and Thunder God during their first Killing Fields confrontation, where his rank, experience, and consciousness give him an unfair advantage. Training and command

His influence also rests on instruction and family command. Many warriors become his students because a universe level 9 teacher with a recognized combat title is scarce in their region.
