Zyreth

Zyreth Ulmora is the Transcendent leader of Zendel and the Velythari. He attempts to contain Nux after the Leander incursion, then chooses to resist the Universe itself when it retaliates against his world. His Domain demonstrates the scale of true Transcendent authority, but also its dependence on the Universe whose attack nullifies it.

Biography

The last defense of Zendel

Zyreth confronts Nux above Zendel after the world's forces are frozen or defeated. He refuses Nux's demand to accept the end and begins dismantling the concepts Nux relies on, intending to remove the intruder before dealing with the larger threat. Nux has already arranged for the Main Universe to locate him, turning Zendel into the battlefield of its retaliation. (Chapters 1879–1881)

When world-sized asteroids appear, Zyreth rallies the other Transcendents rather than wait for death. He calls out Gragor's fear and orders each wielder to spread out so their incompatible Domains do not clash. Zyreth removes Time around Nux to prevent distraction and deploys thousands of possible versions of himself against the attack. (Chapters 1881–1882)

Time reversal, fire, barriers, and physical force all fail against the Universe. Zyreth finally makes his core shine and spends himself on one last crushing attempt, producing only a tiny crack in one asteroid. Unable to watch Zendel's destruction, he lets his body and existence fade. The corpus explicitly states that he is no more and gives no revival. (Chapters 1882–1883)

Appearance and personality

Zyreth is a Velythari, a being formed from floating shards around a protected core. His body has no fixed shape and continually rearranges to meet conditions, with a crystal-like form that becomes translucent during his final expenditure. The corpus does not provide conventional hair, clothes, or facial features. (Chapters 1879 and 1882)

He is proud, controlled, and committed to Zendel. He initially tries intimidation and conceptual domination, but once survival becomes impossible, he chooses resistance and persuades frightened peers to do the same. (Chapters 1879–1882)

Abilities and cultivation

Zyreth is a true Transcendent with a Domain capable of warping reality. He dismantles Time around Nux, blocks self-destruction, and can potentially remove or alter other concepts. His species also restructures its shards to protect the core and reform after bodily destruction, making ordinary killing difficult. (Chapters 1879–1882)

Within his Domain, Zyreth summons thousands of himself from different possibilities and uses Resurgence Eternum to reverse time around the falling asteroids. The possibilities can also direct fire, barriers, and force. Their number declines as he exhausts energy. (Chapter 1882)

His decisive limit is universal dependence. The Main Universe can nullify Laws and Domains connected to it, leaving even a Transcendent with only energy and physical structure against world-sized impacts. Zyreth's full life produces only a small crack, and no ordinary range, duration, or energy figures are given for his Domain outside that exceptional battle. (Chapters 1882–1883)

Relationships

  • Nux: Zyreth treats Nux as the intruder destroying Zendel and can conceptually restrain him, but Nux turns the Universe into the weapon that ends them both temporarily. (Chapters 1879–1883)
  • Gragor: A fellow Transcendent whom Zyreth condemns as cowardly before persuading him to join Zendel's final resistance. (Chapter 1882)
  • The Velythari: Zyreth leads their world and shares their adaptive shard-and-core body. His final act is directed at protecting Zendel rather than escaping alone. (Chapters 1879–1882)
