Vestalis

Leofric Vestalis is the head of one of Skyfall's four Duke Houses and Evane's maternal grandfather. Publicly feared as a cold-blooded noble, he is privately devoted to his granddaughter and becomes one of the dynastic supports around her rise.

Biography

Neutrality in the royal succession

When Skyfall's princes begin gathering the Duke Houses behind their claims, Vestalis alone declares neutrality. The candidate he wishes to support is Second Princess Quiriana, who does not want the throne, so he refuses to transfer that preference to one of her brothers. His decision keeps the Vestalis House outside the initial three-way alignment and shows that his loyalty is directed toward a person he judges worthy rather than merely toward the strongest available faction. The political weight of that choice comes from his position as a Duke, not from possessing the secret King-stage power attributed to each house. Leofric himself is introduced as an Expert-stage cultivator and one of the strongest at that stage; the concealed King-stage ancestor of the Vestalis family is a different, unnamed person. Evane's return and the succession struggle

Evane later visits her grandfather to ask a favor. Leofric's subordinates fear his ruthless reputation, but his manner changes immediately around his first granddaughter: he welcomes her warmly, remembers the snacks she likes, and gives her private access. The precise favor is not stated in their opening exchange. Later political maneuvers invoke Vestalis support, including Evane's offer to bring Lovis to her side, but the surviving scenes do not show Leofric personally setting every condition attributed to his house. An assassin who attacks Amaya claims to have been sent by Duke Vestalis. The attribution places Leofric under suspicion, but the corpus does not show him issuing that order or explain why he would target Amaya; it should not be treated as a confirmed personal decision. Likewise, purported secret correspondence involving the Vestalis and Merula houses appears amid manipulated succession evidence rather than as an unambiguous record of Leofric's intent. Protecting Evane's claim

After an attack on Evane, Leofric rushes to her side and threatens retaliation against Raguel and Fulvanius. Learning that the King-stage man protecting her is her husband Nux shifts his concern from immediate rescue to scrutiny: he demands to meet the man, then accepts Evane's request to delay the introduction and her promise of a formal wedding. His response combines dynastic expectation with genuine protectiveness rather than a bid to control her claim directly. (Chapter 463)

Leofric later attends Evane's coronation and Ricardus's execution. While other Dukes are confused by parts of the ceremony, he appears less surprised, consistent with his earlier private access to Evane and her plans. The scene leaves him alive within the new royal order; no later chapter establishes a change in his office, cultivation, or status. (Chapter 565)

Appearance and personality

Leofric has red hair, red eyes, sharp features, and an attractive face carrying a dangerous charm. He wears black-and-gold clothing appropriate to his rank. His arrival and reputation intimidate household subordinates even before he acts. (Chapter 402)

He is widely regarded as cold-blooded and frightening, yet that public severity coexists with unconditional affection for Evane. He remembers small details about her preferences, listens to her request, and reacts fiercely when she is endangered. He is politically independent enough to reject all three princes when his preferred candidate refuses the throne, but the corpus gives too little direct access to his reasoning to define a broader governing ideology. Abilities and cultivation

Expert-stage cultivation

Leofric is an Expert-stage cultivator described as one of the strongest people at that stage. His aura and reputation support that standing, but he has no on-page duel, named spell, weapon technique, elemental affinity, or quantified range. No later scene shows an advancement beyond Expert. Claims about the Vestalis House's hidden King-stage ancestor belong to another family member and are not evidence of Leofric's own power. (Chapters 202, 402)

Noble authority

As Duke, Leofric commands a major house, servants, and political resources, giving his support material importance during the succession. That authority is institutional rather than a cultivation ability. Reports of letters and assassins acting in his name remain contested or unconfirmed, so their reach and authenticity cannot be used to infer a demonstrated covert network under his personal control. Relationships

• Evane: Evane is Leofric's first granddaughter and the person who most clearly reveals his affectionate side. He welcomes her requests, rushes to her after an attack, and presses to assess her husband while ultimately respecting her timing. (Chapters 402, 463, 565)
• Quiriana: Leofric wants the Second Princess to inherit Skyfall, but she refuses the throne. Rather than support another royal, he initially keeps his house neutral. (Chapter 149)
