Valhelm

Valhelm was a Divine Giant mercenary whose repeated pursuit of the Leander women escalated from unwanted recruitment to an attempted abduction backed by his Primordial brother. His confidence in that protection draws the Last Path party into a battle whose aftereffects kill him.

Biography

Entitlement disguised as recruitment

Valhelm approaches the Leander women in a mercenary hall after watching them work for centuries. He presents joining his party as a reward for their effort and claims their strength would be valued, but their hostility and Thyra's possession of a torn piece of his clothing indicate an established pattern of unwanted attention. Skyla turns him down calmly because the group has its own purpose. (Chapter 1761)

Humiliation hardens Valhelm's pursuit. He repeatedly visits the hall looking for the women and relies on his brother Vrakor's position in the elite Last Path party to make retaliation credible. When they return, Valhelm follows them with Vrakor, four other Primordials, and the wider party, openly proposing that his companions share the captured women. His goal is coercive possession rather than recruitment, and he aims to punish refusal. (Chapters 1763–1766)

The Last Path's destruction

The arrival of Nux reverses Valhelm's assumed power balance. Nux reads the party's intentions, orders most mercenaries away, and specifically marks Valhelm and several others to remain for punishment. Valhelm's stronger allies attempt to force Nux into an unsalvageable fight by targeting Vyriana, escalating the encounter beyond the limited test Nux first contemplated. (Chapters 1766–1769)

Valhelm never becomes a central combatant. The collision between Nux and the four Primordials produces shockwaves lethal to the weaker mercenaries, and Valhelm dies in those aftereffects before Nux can carry out the prolonged punishment he intended. Later mercenaries infer that his party will not return. His reliance on others' strength therefore causes both his death and the destruction of the organization he treated as protection. (Chapters 1769–1772 and 1795)

Appearance and personality

Valhelm is an orange-skinned Giant approximately three meters tall. The corpus does not provide his hair, eyes, clothing, or other stable physical details. (Chapter 1761)

He initially affects pity and earnest concern, but repeated refusals reveal entitlement, vindictiveness, and sexual predation. He interprets affiliation with stronger mercenaries as permission to ignore others' choices, then loses confidence as soon as Nux displays power outside his expectations. (Chapters 1761–1767)

Abilities and cultivation

Valhelm is a Divine and an elite mercenary, but the corpus shows no named Law, racial ability, weapon, completed attack, or defensive technique. His Giant body and cultivation imply substantial strength, yet the battle explicitly separates him from the four Primordials whose attacks threaten Nux. Their demonstrated feats cannot be attributed to Valhelm. (Chapters 1761 and 1766–1769)

His only established combat limit is decisive: as a Divine caught near a Primordial-scale battle, he cannot survive its aftereffects. The text provides no activation conditions, costs, range, progression, or counter for any personal power because he dies before using one on page. (Chapters 1769–1772)

Relationships

  • Vrakor: Vrakor is Valhelm's protective Primordial brother and a higher-ranking member of the Last Path. Valhelm uses that connection to pursue the women, drawing Vrakor into the fatal confrontation. (Chapters 1763–1769)
  • Skyla: Skyla repeatedly refuses Valhelm's recruitment while keeping the confrontation controlled. He responds by escalating from persuasion to planned capture. (Chapters 1761–1766)
  • Nux: Nux identifies Valhelm's intentions and marks him for punishment. Valhelm dies from the battle's collateral force before Nux directly reaches him. (Chapters 1766–1772)
