Tenzin

Tenzin is an ancient Goblin monk who has spent most of his life in Timeguard studying the Temple of Time. Although he is among the strongest Eternals in the Universe, his defining commitments are custodianship, restraint, and the protection of his disciples—commitments that ultimately leave him vulnerable to powers above the Eternal Stage.

Biography

A life devoted to the Temple of Time

Tenzin had lived since the era when five Supreme Worlds existed, but remained almost unknown because he confined himself to Timeguard from the Protector Stage onward. He persisted after many of his peers chose sleep or reincarnation, dedicating that longevity to the Temple of Time. His own progress illustrates both his achievement and the Temple's resistance: he mastered temporal flow and cleared its first trial, yet never passed the second despite a lifetime of study. His disciple Vashti, who cleared four of the six trials she perceived, consequently became both his greatest source of pride and the most promising continuation of his work. (Chapters 1989 and 1992)

When Nux began probing Timeguard for knowledge, Tenzin first sheltered Vashti and confronted him as a potential threat. He nevertheless chose disclosure over exclusion, explaining that the Temple was a gift belonging to all rather than property for the monks to gatekeep. He offered the accumulated trial records—including Vashti's unusually detailed reports—while making clear that he would alert the Supreme Worlds if the Anomaly remained hostile. The exchange ended peacefully, leaving Nux with the records and Tenzin's community unharmed; his generosity was principled, but backed by a credible willingness to protect his people. Protecting Vashti and losing her

Centuries later, Vashti tried to destroy herself rather than be captured by the Infinities. Tenzin stopped the process through temporal manipulation, slowing her internal self-destruction so drastically that it was projected to take a thousand years, then enclosing the confrontation in a region where one outside second corresponded to one hundred thousand years within. This was a deliberate attempt to buy time against enemies he could not defeat directly. The Infinities broke his Domain, restrained him, and forced him to watch Vashti's soul be tortured and processed into relic components. (Chapters 2327–2332)

The confrontation revealed why Tenzin had hidden Vashti's potential: earlier gifted disciples had disappeared after the Supreme Worlds learned about them, and he feared the same fate for her. That caution was vindicated too late. Seraphielle then removed every memory Tenzin had of Vashti while deliberately leaving inconsistencies, ensuring he could feel that something important was missing without recovering it. Tenzin survived and resumed looking for a suitable disciple, while the other monks concealed the truth from him. His latest state is therefore not a voluntary return to serenity, but an imposed ignorance that reinterprets his earlier secrecy as a failed attempt to resist a recurring pattern of predation. Appearance and personality

Tenzin has purple skin, long imp-like ears, a bald head, and a white mark on his forehead. He wears monk-like clothing and lives in an austere room whose simplicity gives no outward indication of his power. His habitual manner is calm, serene, and polite, including when addressing an intruder; however, danger to his disciples produces immediate focus rather than passivity. (Chapters 1989 and 1992)

He treats knowledge of the Temple as a shared inheritance and takes open pride in Vashti's accomplishments. His later actions show that this openness has a boundary: he is willing to hide a disciple's gifts from the Supreme Worlds when disclosure appears likely to make that disciple disappear. Abilities and cultivation

Law of Absolute Time Manipulation

Tenzin is a peak Eternal whose incomplete pursuit of a broader Law of Time produced the Absolute Law of Time Manipulation. The Law lets him alter temporal speed around a chosen target or area; its source describes the degree and affected area as subject to his will, though it does not establish a universal maximum. In combat theory, he can slow an opponent until effectively frozen and act while that opponent cannot respond. This application is described rather than shown in a completed battle. (Chapter 1989)

His demonstrated control is far more precise than simple battlefield slowing. He arrested Vashti's internal self-destruction, extending its activation to an estimated thousand years, and created a Domain with a stated dilation of one hundred thousand internal years per outside second. The same incident establishes the ceiling of those feats: the Infinities cracked the Domain, and Tenzin could neither overpower them nor prevent Vashti's capture. The corpus does not explain the Law's energy cost, setup time, or whether the quoted dilation is his absolute limit. (Chapters 2327–2330)

Temple training and knowledge

Tenzin cleared the Temple of Time's first personalized trial and has studied records from other trial takers. This gives him exceptional knowledge of the Temple, but not control over it: its trials change for each participant, and even he could only offer precedents rather than guaranteed solutions. His records aided Nux's investigation, while Tenzin himself remained unable to clear the second trial. (Chapters 1992 and 2009)

Relationships

• Vashti: Tenzin's greatest disciple and the person he repeatedly risked himself to protect. He celebrated her unprecedented trial progress, concealed her talent from predatory powers, and failed to save her from the Infinities. Seraphielle later erased this relationship from his memory. (Chapters 1989, 1992, and 2327–2333)
• Nux: Tenzin treated Nux as a dangerous Anomaly but chose a peaceful exchange of Temple records once he understood Nux's goal. Their encounter demonstrates his preference for shared knowledge without surrendering his responsibility to threaten escalation when his disciples were endangered. (Chapters 1991–1993)
• Seraphielle: Seraphielle overcame Tenzin with the other Infinities and edited his memories after Vashti's death. The surviving gaps mean Tenzin does not consciously remember the injury she inflicted. (Chapters 2330–2333)
