Serion

Serion is one of the oldest Light Borns and the Eternal placed in command of the investigation into Nux's disappearance with Gracevale's Eternals. His disciplined search unravels as worlds vanish faster than his force can follow, eventually driving him to reject threats from the Supreme World representative he had mistaken for the Light Infinity.

Biography

Investigation at Gracevale

Serion arrives at Gracevale with thirty-nine other Light Borns after fifteen Eternals disappear. He gives the frightened population no reassurance; instead, he orders his force to read every memory and environmental echo and leave no location unchecked. Their reconstruction confirms Nux's face and actions but reveals no trace of his arrival or departure. Serion seizes on the sole anomaly—a missing woman—only for her home world, Greenmarch, to disappear before it can be investigated. (Chapters 2152–2153)

With the Supreme World demanding results, Serion delegates searches across every world even weakly connected to Greenmarch and imposes an hour deadline. The search produces nothing because Nux leaves no conventional trail. Serion's approach is methodical and broad, but its dependence on surviving memories, relationships, and spatial traces makes it inherently unable to follow an enemy who erases all three. Pressure as the worlds disappear

Repeated disappearances strip away Serion's composure. After half an hour and reports from numerous empty searches, he physically grips returning investigators and demands any lead they can provide. The being speaking through the call artifact as “Lord Light” berates him for failing to report, and Serion admits that ordinary methods do not work while promising that more time will let him bring the Anomaly to heel. The crisis escalates when Glowreign, Dalestomb, Heavenvein, and then further High-Level Worlds disappear within minutes. Serion notices that “Lord Light” speaks of the two of them as a team and stutters in fear, behavior incompatible with the absolute Infinity Serion thought he was addressing. He and the Light Borns infer that the voice belongs to a representative rather than the Light Infinity herself. This later revelation changes the power dynamic of the investigation: Serion no longer treats each command as the direct word of an untouchable ruler. (Chapters 2158–2160)

Defiance of the Light representative

Moving through the void with five investigators, Serion continues searching despite having no pattern or trace to follow. When the representative threatens him with mutual ruin, Serion refuses the threat, states plainly that the requested result is beyond the representative's own ability, cuts the connection, and orders his force onward. His decision restores command authority among the field group but publicly humiliates the being who controls the Light Born communication system. (Chapter 2160)

The representative responds by deciding that Serion must die as an example. He has the means to manipulate or extinguish Light Born “stars” through the Orb of Communion, but an urgent report of Nux interrupts him before he acts against Serion. Serion is therefore alive when last directly shown and under a specific death threat; the corpus does not resolve whether the representative later attempts or completes the execution. Appearance and personality

Serion has vast wings described as golden crystal fire and glowing eyes characteristic of the arriving Light Borns. The group wears long white-gold robes engraved with otherworldly runes, though the text does not isolate any unique variation in Serion's clothing. His face, height, build, hair, and apparent age are not supplied. (Chapter 2152)

He begins calm, emotionally restrained, and confident in structured investigation. Fear of failure gradually makes him desperate, but he remains honest about finding nothing and continues assigning plausible searches. Once he recognizes that “Lord Light” is a frightened intermediary, Serion's deference disappears and he asserts the limits of what his team can achieve. This defiance is born from pressure and disillusionment, not a demonstrated rejection of the Light faction or Seraphielle. (Chapters 2152–2161)

Abilities and cultivation

Serion is an Eternal Light Born and described as slightly stronger than some peers, though no comparative battle is shown. His voice carries a strange calming power. The narrative does not specify whether this effect is passively racial, deliberately activated, or part of a named Law, nor does it give range, resistance, cost, or duration. His wings let him stabilize himself during a world-scale tremor, but no combat flight or attack is demonstrated. (Chapters 2152–2153)

The Light Born investigation collectively reads memories and environmental echoes, combines viewpoints into a detailed projection, moves as streaks of light, and searches across worlds. Serion orders and interprets this work but is not individually shown performing each technique. Serion's greatest demonstrated strength is command and analysis rather than combat. These competencies cannot overcome Nux's trace removal and rapid world devouring. He is also vulnerable to the representative's Orb-based control, an external system capable of altering or killing Light Borns rather than a weakness in Serion's own cultivation that he demonstrates countering.
