Phorus
Phorus is a King-stage general of Skyfall who helps defend the palace, evaluates the unexpected strength around Queen Evane, and mobilizes the kingdom's army for war against Solid Earth.
Biography
Defending a kingdom in transition
Phorus enters the royal crisis when nine masked King-stage cultivators approach the palace. Treating the group as a possible invasion or coup, he orders every soldier below Master stage evacuated and joins Skyfall's other high-level defenders rather than exposing weaker troops to a battle they cannot survive. The supposed attackers prove to be Nux and his companions, but Phorus's initial response is grounded in the kingdom's lack of information and the unprecedented concentration of hostile-looking power. (Chapter 509)
When Evane embraces Nux and identifies him as her husband, Phorus still challenges the stranger. He argues that Skyfall's subjects must prevent harm to the princess and bluntly says that an immature Evane, not yet crowned, lacks the authority to dismiss that concern. Astaria's arrival resolves the dispute: Phorus immediately recognizes the kingdom's strongest protector and accepts the hierarchy she establishes around Evane. The scene does not show a sudden personal devotion to the new queen, but it does move him from resistance to service under recognized authority. (Chapters 510–516)
Reassessing Nux's strength
Phorus and Iria observe Nux's test against the Shadow Unit expecting the unit to subdue him quickly. Instead, Nux defeats its members and admits that he held back, overturning Phorus's initial estimate. Phorus checks the fallen rather than dismissing the result, and further learns that Nux's concealment had passed multiple security layers. (Chapters 528–533)
He then watches Nux spar Astaria. The exchange forces him to revise the assumption that an unknown outsider could not contend with Skyfall's highest powers: Nux pushes the kingdom's strongest warrior far beyond what Phorus anticipated. This change is evidence-based rather than ideological; Phorus remains a soldier whose confidence follows observed strength and command legitimacy. (Chapters 537–590)
Mobilization against Solid Earth
As war becomes unavoidable, Phorus asks Astaria whether the army should prepare instead of acting without orders. She commands all available troops assembled within three days and announces that she will lead them personally; Phorus salutes and carries the mobilization into effect. His role is therefore operational—turning the sovereign protector's decision into military movement—rather than determining the war's strategy himself. (Chapter 600)
At the confrontation with Solid Earth, Phorus advances with other King- and Expert-stage cultivators toward a battlefield swallowed by Amaya's strengthened Devouring Mist. The chapter shows him approaching the danger but gives no personal combat result or later aftermath. His last established condition is alive and active at the battle's edge; anything beyond that is unreported. (Chapter 621)
Appearance and personality
The corpus does not provide a distinct physical description, clothing detail, age, or weapon for Phorus. He is identified through his rank, King-stage aura, and conduct as a general rather than through a described appearance. (Chapters 509–510)
Phorus is disciplined, direct, and protective of Skyfall's institutions. He reacts rapidly to uncertain threats, is willing to question Evane when he believes her judgment could expose the kingdom, and yields when Astaria establishes legitimate command. His surprise at Nux does not harden into denial: observing the Shadow Unit test and Astaria's spar causes him to update his assessment. (Chapters 509–533, 537–590)
Abilities and cultivation
King-stage cultivation
Phorus is a King-stage cultivator and one of Skyfall's strongest military figures. That rank qualifies him to stand with the palace's other Kings against nine apparent invaders and later to move toward the main battlefield. No cited chapter shows him cast a named spell, use a weapon, reveal an elemental affinity, or win a personal exchange, so the source, activation, range, and limits of his combat techniques remain unknown. No later advancement is established. (Chapters 509–516, 621)
Command and deployment
His clearest demonstrated capability is military command. He recognizes that lower-stage soldiers would be liabilities against Kings, orders a rapid evacuation, coordinates with Skyfall's senior defenders, and later assembles the kingdom's army on a three-day deadline. These are applications of experience and office rather than supernatural abilities. The corpus does not quantify the force directly under his control or identify a specialist formation of his own. (Chapters 509, 600)
Relationships
- Evane: Phorus initially treats Evane as a protected but inexperienced princess and contests her authority during the palace alarm. Once Astaria supports her elevation, he serves the new order and later joins the forces around her war. (Chapters 510–516, 600–621)
- Astaria: Astaria is the commander whose strength and authority Phorus accepts without hesitation. He observes her test of Nux and executes her order to mobilize every available soldier. (Chapters 511–516, 533–600)
- Nux: Phorus first regards Nux as a possible threat to Evane. Watching him defeat the Shadow Unit while holding back and contend with Astaria forces Phorus to recognize how badly he underestimated him. (Chapters 510, 528–590)
- Iria: Iria serves beside Phorus among Skyfall's King-stage defenders and shares his shock while watching Nux's tests. Their private history and exact command relationship are not described. (Chapters 509–533, 621)
