Morgrath

Morgrath Ash is the ruler of the Devouring Mist Demon State and an authority on the Devouring Mist Demon Physique. His interest in Amaya leads him to open his State's Trial Tower to her, where her breakthrough surpasses the racial framework he expected.

Biography

Identifying a successor beyond his race

Morgrath appears among Yrniel's leading rulers and carries enough authority to speak without being overshadowed by physically larger Demon Lords. At the gathering after Nux and Melia's union, his attention settles on Amaya because he can sense her Devouring Mist Demon Physique. He later recognizes Nux's life-force-draining mist as the physique's highest mastery, demonstrating specialized knowledge even when he cannot explain how an apparent Incubus uses it. (Chapters 969–1042)

After the Demon Lords seek neutrality from Nux, Morgrath separately offers Amaya access to his Trial Tower. He acknowledges that the offer also curries favor, but maintains that his assessment of her potential is sincere. Amaya eventually accepts, enters the Devouring Mist trial, and forms the Law of Absolute Devour. Her breakthrough destroys—or more precisely devours—the Tower and removes the racial aura Morgrath expects, leaving him unable to categorize what she has become. (Chapters 1271 and 1329–1339)

The Demon States' cultivation crisis

When changes affecting Yrniel cause elite Demons to die during cultivation, Morgrath joins the Lords who pressure Eisheth to contact Nux. He argues that she must possess a route to her son-in-law and frames the appeal as necessary to preserve the Demon race's strength. Eisheth answers by recalling that these same rulers allowed Dragons to slaughter her people. (Chapter 1590)

Nux's arrival does not solve Morgrath's political problem. Morgrath is shaken by the complete Divine pressure of Nux's wives, then is expelled with the other Lords and warned not to return. He survives, but his final scene leaves him without access to the one person the rulers believe can solve their crisis. (Chapters 1592–1593)

Appearance and personality

Morgrath is approximately 1.7 meters tall, with greyish skin and pure white hair. Despite being shorter than many other rulers, he carries an overbearing presence appropriate to one of Yrniel's strongest Demons. (Chapter 969)

He is observant, technically knowledgeable, and pragmatic about political motives. He can admit that an offer serves his interests while still acting on genuine recognition of talent. His response to Amaya's unprecedented advancement also shows intellectual honesty: he voices confusion rather than pretending her new state fits what he knows. (Chapters 990, 1042, 1271, and 1338–1339)

Abilities and cultivation

Morgrath is one of Yrniel's strongest Demon Lords and ruler of a race whose mist can devour life force. He can sense Amaya's Devouring Mist physique and identify its traditional mastery levels. However, the corpus never shows him personally activating the mist, fighting, or forming a named Law, so the technique's demonstrated effects in Nux and Amaya cannot be assigned wholesale to Morgrath. (Chapters 969–1042)

His individual cultivation stage, power range, activation conditions, costs, limits, counters, and latest mastery are not stated. His control over the Trial Tower is institutional: he can grant Amaya entry, but cannot prevent the Tower's destruction or explain the Absolute Law she forms. (Chapters 1271 and 1338–1339)

• Amaya: Morgrath senses Amaya's physique, offers her the Devouring Mist trial, and witnesses her transcend its expected racial result. Their connection is that of a racial authority recognizing an exceptional outsider, not a long-term mentorship shown on page. (Chapters 990, 1271, and 1338–1339)
• Nux: Morgrath first studies Nux's anomalous use of Devouring Mist and later uses access to his State's Tower as part of the Lords' attempt to repair relations. Nux ultimately expels him during the later crisis. (Chapters 1032–1042, 1271, and 1592–1593)
• Eisheth: Morgrath asks Eisheth to mediate with Nux but cannot overcome her resentment over the Demon Lords' abandonment of the Lust State. (Chapter 1590)
