Fredgelord

Fredgelord is a King Stage general of the Solid Earth Army during its war against the Woods Dynasty. He supports Herms's campaign, leads the assault into Ravenhill City, and dies when the apparent retreat draws his force into an ambush.

Biography

Supporting Herms's offensive

Fredgelord first appears in Herms's council after an assassin escapes a camp defended by six King Stage cultivators. He uses Armando's absence to imply that the general may be involved, dismissing the argument that a seventh defender would not have changed the result. When the council learns that Ember has resigned from the Woods Army, Fredgelord favors exploiting the apparent weakness rather than dwelling on the assassin. Herms assigns him and Marcus to accompany Armando with the explicit goal of killing the Woods' new general. (Chapters 353–354)

By the later Ravenhill offensive, Fredgelord is one of four King Stage generals leading twenty thousand Solid Earth soldiers. He treats the defenders' retreat as proof that the city is collapsing, orders the gate destroyed, and pursues the fleeing army for thirty hours. The flight is a deliberate lure: at its end, Fredgelord discovers multiple hostile King Stage cultivators and realizes his side has entered a prepared encirclement. (Chapters 573–574)

Death in the Ravenhill ambush

Even after the trap closes and Marcus is assassinated, Fredgelord urges the army to overwhelm Amaya and her Devouring Mist through superior numbers. He joins Armando and Lexus in trying to reach her, but Felberta blocks and wounds him. When reinforcements arrive, he assumes the generals can finally fight without restraint; instead, Felberta reveals that she had been holding back and forces him off balance, allowing Thyra to behead him. His confidence in numbers and reinforcement thus leads directly to his death, while the remaining generals begin considering retreat. (Chapters 575–576)

Appearance and personality

Fredgelord is a man, but the corpus gives no reliable details about his height, build, hair, eyes, clothing, or age. His name is inconsistently rendered as Fredgelord, Fredelord, and Fredglelord in the local text; the surrounding events identify these forms as the same Solid Earth general. He is confrontational, loud, and highly confident in the Solid Earth Army's numerical advantage. He provokes Armando during council, laughs at the prospect of killing the Woods' new general, and repeatedly dismisses danger until the ambush is already underway. He can still obey tactical warnings—remaining near the other generals when isolation would expose him to an assassin—but never reassesses the larger assumptions behind the pursuit. Abilities and cultivation

Fredgelord is explicitly a King Stage cultivator. He fights directly in the Ravenhill battle, resists Amaya's Devouring Mist at a level where weaker soldiers die or become incapacitated, and can defend against Felberta's initial attacks. These feats establish ordinary King Stage durability and martial capacity in that battle, but the corpus does not name his cultivation technique, affinity, spells, Law, bloodline, or weapon. His limits are decisive. He cannot break through the coordinated protection around Amaya, must stay close to fellow generals to guard against Thyra's concealment, and is weaker than Felberta once she stops holding back. Felberta's frontal pressure creates the opening for Thyra's concealed beheading, which he does not perceive or counter. Fredgelord also commands large formations, leading soldiers through the breach and ordering them to redirect their attack toward Amaya. His orders are followed, but his leadership is undermined by poor threat assessment: he pursues a staged retreat, relies on numbers against an area-killing mist, and mistakes enemy restraint for parity. Relationships

• Herms: Fredgelord serves Herms's campaign and accepts his appointment to the force targeting the Woods' new general. Herms's broader strategy treats the deployed generals as expendable, but Fredgelord is not shown learning this. (Chapters 353–354, 573)
• Armando: Fredgelord initially needles Armando over the assassin's escape, then fights beside him at Ravenhill. Armando repeatedly supplies the caution Fredgelord lacks, especially by warning him not to separate from the other generals. (Chapters 353–354, 575)
