Darain

Darain Bloodmoon is the Saint-stage leader of the declining Bloodmoon Clan and the patron behind Kaelin's campaign against ExceedoGenesis. His attempt to restore the clan through a conspicuous victory instead ends in immediate defeat, magical enslavement, and coerced self-destruction.

Biography

Betting Bloodmoon's recovery on Nux's reputation

Darain first enters the story through Riona's account of ExceedoGenesis's decline. Kaelin, a trusted subordinate, uses Darain's influence to sabotage the clan after Riona rejects his marriage proposal. Bloodmoon has itself fallen from a top clan to a middle-level power, and Darain intends to reverse that decline by defeating the famous but long-absent Nux. Supporting Kaelin therefore serves both patronage and a calculated attempt to borrow prestige from a public victory. (Chapters 1128 and 1130)

When Nux returns, Darain appears in person after Kaelin's challenge and death. He treats the subordinate as replaceable, assumes that his Saint stage gives him control of the encounter, and attempts to dictate a reward that includes Riona. Nux instead issues a public challenge and gives Bloodmoon time to assemble its main force. Darain brings eighteen Saints and dozens of Great Sages, choosing overwhelming numbers rather than risking the clan's recovery on a conventional duel. (Chapters 1133–1139)

Enslavement and forced sacrifice

The numerical advantage changes nothing. Nux bypasses Bloodmoon's defenders, pins Darain within seconds, and applies a twelve-star Slave Seal after Darain yields. The seal inflicts extreme pain and allows Nux to read memories, control actions, and interfere with thoughts. Darain survives the battle but does not choose his subsequent allegiance freely. Darain later serves as bait when the Black Order sends Morwen to investigate Nux. He contacts Nux through the Slave Seal and stalls her despite hoping privately that she might kill his master and free him. After Morwen is captured, Amaya devises a false memory sequence in which Darain's self-destruction explains the failed mission and conceals Morwen's own enslavement. (Chapters 1160–1164)

Darain initially objects to dying for this plan. Nux rewrites his personality into absolute loyalty, removing meaningful consent, and orders him to reenact the meeting. Darain then self-destructs in front of Morwen as the plan requires. His death is therefore a consequence of magical coercion, not a voluntary sacrifice or a combat defeat, and no revival is shown. Appearance and personality

Darain has black hair and sharp features. He wears lavish noble clothing, including a shirt beneath a brown italic-style coat, and carries himself as a high-ranking patron. The corpus does not state his age, height, eye color, or any physical change after enslavement. (Chapter 1133)

He is status-conscious, dismissive of weaker subordinates, and confident in the hierarchy implied by cultivation stage. His decision to assemble Bloodmoon's full force also shows practical caution beneath the arrogance. Abilities and cultivation

Incomplete Saint cultivation

Darain is an Incomplete Saint and a Mana cultivator. His stage makes him influential in Waranal and conventionally stronger than Semi Saints, but other fighters regard him as an unusually weak Saint. The twelve-star Slave Seal gives Nux control over Darain's actions, memories, thoughts, and personality. These are imposed effects originating from Nux, not Darain's own cultivation. Darain's final self-destruction produces a large explosion used to support Morwen's fabricated memory.
