Arvin

Lord Arvin is the Eternal who commands an early Supreme World expedition into Umbrasol. His failed mission produces a rare recording of the world's defenses and the conclusion that later guides other would-be challengers: adding more invaders only gives Umbrasol more souls from which to create Wraiths.

Biography

Command of the Umbrasol expedition

Arvin leads a five-thousand-person force assembled by the Four Supreme Worlds to enter Umbrasol and devour its heart. The army initially trusts his Eternal status and remains highly organized, while his aide Rudrasil opens a path through the Reaper's Veil. Inside, however, Arvin discovers that every energy except Death Energy dissipates, leaving most of the expedition—including Arvin himself—unable to use its usual powers. He first orders a retreat rather than spend his people without purpose. (Chapters 1719 and 1731)

Deathstorms block the exit and make an orderly withdrawal impossible. Arvin then chooses to advance, reasoning that devouring the world would remove its hazards and give the trapped expedition its only collective chance to survive. That hope collapses when Umbrasol creates a Wraith force mirroring the invaders and Arvin senses ten thousand additional Eternal-level Wraiths guarding the core. Recognizing that the army never had a winning path, he changes objectives again: he orders a subordinate to share his vision and abandons the battlefield so that at least one witness can carry the discovery home. Escape at the cost of his remaining life

Arvin's retreat is not simple self-preservation. He deliberately slows enough to observe the battle through the shared vision, learning that Umbrasol keeps the souls of previous invaders and uses the strongest current intruder as the model for its remaining defenders. His departure leaves Rudrasil in command, and the entire expedition is massacred despite the Death-aligned fighters retaining their normal abilities. The choice preserves critical intelligence, but it also makes Arvin the sole survivor of a force he could no longer save. (Chapters 1733–1736)

At the Reaper's Veil, Arvin burns almost all of his Life Force to cross the densest Death Energy. He escapes after expending roughly ninety-eight percent and confirms that the pursuing Eternal Wraith cannot follow him outside Umbrasol, but Death Energy has already penetrated too deeply for him to recover. Appearance and personality

His voice is heavy, authoritative, and initially confident even after his abilities disappear. Eternal cultivation and world devouring

Arvin is an Eternal with an almost inexhaustible reserve of stamina and Life Force under normal conditions. He expects that reaching Umbrasol's heart will allow him to devour the world, but the recording never shows him beginning that process; its activation, range, duration, and precise mechanism are therefore unknown. Umbrasol suppresses Arvin's ordinary energy because he has no Death-aligned abilities. His raw Eternal resistance still lets him endure ambient Death Energy longer than his subordinates, but the increasingly violent environment forces him to spend energy and eventually Life Force merely to stay alive. Speed, senses, and sacrificial escape

Speed is described as Arvin's forte, allowing him to remain ahead of the Eternal Wraith pursuing him. He can also spread his senses widely enough to count Umbrasol's Wraiths and detect the ten thousand Eternal defenders near the core. Neither ability is enough to win: he believes the pursuing Wraith would defeat him even without environmental suppression. (Chapters 1732–1733)

For his final escape, Arvin burns more than ninety percent of his Life Force into a protective barrier and ultimately loses about ninety-eight percent crossing the Veil. This is a temporary defensive application with a permanent cost, not an upgrade. Shared vision

Arvin receives a live view of the battlefield through Nivrek's special vision-sharing ability. This perception is borrowed rather than innate to Arvin and is expected to fail once he crosses beyond the Reaper's Veil. • Rudrasil: Rudrasil is Arvin's most trusted aide, opens the entrance through the Reaper's Veil, and assumes battlefield command after Arvin leaves.
