Gaap’s Skull Ring
Gaap’s Skull Ring is the skull-embedded ring Gaap gives Lux upon accepting him as a disciple. It serves as a one-way medium through which Gaap can instantly appear beside Lux in Elysium, allowing the necromancer to protect his disciple from enemies far above Lux's rank.
History
A master's safeguard
Gaap gives the ring to Lux when he accepts him as his disciple, though its first on-page identification occurs when Gaap unexpectedly enters the Gate of Famine. Gaap uses the medium both to aid Lux and to let the watching Crystal Palace faction see that the Half-Elf has a powerful master, discouraging High-Rankers and Saints from bullying him before he can mature. (Chapter 698)
The skull-set medium
After Gaap's intervention, Lux looks at the skull embedded in the ring and recalls its appraised function. Gaap can teleport to him with a thought as long as Lux is in Elysium, but the activation begins a one-month cooldown. This ring is separate from Hereswith's Memento Mori ring, which Gaap grips or wears in Chapters 668, 674, and 917; the latter is a personal keepsake and is not this teleportation medium. (Chapters 668, 674, 699, 917)
Abilities and properties
- Serves as a medium that lets Gaap instantly teleport to Lux's location with a thought. (Chapter 698)
- Functions only while Lux is in Elysium. The text does not state that it can summon Gaap to Solais or another plane. (Chapter 699)
- Can be activated only once a month and enters a one-month cooldown after use. (Chapters 698–699)
- The teleportation is Gaap's protective access to Lux, not a general travel spell Lux can use to teleport himself or other people. Its operation after Gaap's death and later return is not explicitly tested. (Chapters 698–699)
