Enchanted Beast Ring

The Enchanted Beast Ring is a storage artifact Vera gives Lux for transporting otherwise unmanageable monster remains. Its specialized capacity makes defeated beasts into recoverable crafting materials rather than abandoned battlefield waste.

History

Hunting and salvage

Lux first uses the ring to store the Red-Eyed Terror Mantis. It accepts monster corpses of any physical size but holds only ten monsters at once, allowing a small expedition to recover quarry without wagons or hired labor. Lux subsequently lends or passes it to Diablo and Eiko for rapid battlefield collection, including Deimos-ranked beasts whose bodies would otherwise be difficult or dangerous to move. (Chapters 42, 70, 210, 213)

Specialized storage limits

The ring later stores Eiko's reverted egg and other monster eggs, but an earlier ordinary monster egg is explicitly rejected as an item suitable for it, showing that compatibility is not simply “anything biological.” Diablo also uses it underwater to secure a flying mount before sea monsters can consume it. Blackfire can duplicate corpse-storage utility, but the ring remains a portable specialist tool with a much smaller capacity. (Chapters 79, 305, 399, 431)

Abilities and properties

  • Stores monster corpses regardless of their physical size, up to ten monsters at a time. (Chapter 42)
  • Can store at least some monster eggs, including Eiko's reverted egg. (Chapter 305)
  • Does not accept every egg or generic object; one monster egg must be moved by carriage instead. (Chapter 79)
  • Its purpose is storage and recovery, not revival, transformation, or combat enhancement. (Chapters 42, 431)
