Pietro
Pietro is the newly elected mayor of Abingdon Town and a peak-Initiate Battle Mage. Faced with escalating insect attacks, he accepts that the settlement cannot be held and works with Lux to evacuate its population across the Shaufell Plains.
Biography
Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars
Pietro meets Lux after the Half-Elf’s group saves Abingdon from Giant Hornets and immediately invites the strangers into his residence, recognizing both their strength and the town’s need. When a Deimos-Ranked beast refuses assistance, Pietro suppresses his disappointment and joins Asmodeus and Guard Captain Marco in planning a ten-day mass evacuation. He personally travels with the people, rallies them into a defensible cluster during the insect barrage, and keeps their morale intact after severe losses by overseeing a cremation and farewell ceremony. His leadership cannot save everyone, but it prevents grief and panic from dissolving the surviving community before it reaches Broughton Town. (Chapters 550, 556, 562, 571, 576)
Appearance and personality
Pietro is a middle-aged man who can look ordinary despite being a peak Initiate. He is courteous to allies, realistic about superior monsters, and willing to change course when defending the town becomes impossible. During the evacuation he hides his own heartache so residents can draw steadiness from their mayor, then gives the dead a dignified farewell. His authority is practical and compassionate rather than grandiose. (Chapters 550, 556, 571)
Abilities and skills
Pietro is a Battle Mage at the peak of the Initiate Rank. Members of that class combine spellcasting with melee use of Magic Staffs, canes, or quarterstaffs, allowing him to participate in defense without being limited to a rear-line caster. The corpus does not name Pietro’s personal elements or show a distinct finishing technique, so the class description is the safe mechanical boundary of his powers. He is badly outmatched by the Rank 5 and Deimos-Ranked insects threatening the procession and relies on coordinated guards, Lux’s summons, Ithaqua’s blizzard, and Asmodeus’s defenses. His most effective demonstrated “ability” is therefore battlefield organization: concentrating civilians so a single protective dome can cover them. (Chapters 556, 562)
