Jed
Jed is the Elite Warg Lux selects and names after completing Tanabur’s quest. He develops into a Thunder Warg King, serving simultaneously as rapid transport, mounted-combat partner, protector, and leader of Lux’s other Wargs. (Chapters 105, 163, 183, 334)
Biography
Awakening and Leaf Village
Lux chooses Jed from twenty-five Elite Wargs and binds him as a mount through the Soul Book, which gives Jed a spiritual dwelling and allows him to be summoned when needed. Their relationship begins with practical training—Lux wants to ride and fight safely—but quickly becomes reciprocal. Jed carries allies away from a Crimson Mantis, transports Kobolds through the Grotto, and guards Lux against sneak attacks during Leaf Village’s crisis. (Chapters 105, 125, 150, 163)
After consuming the Thunder Wolf King’s Mutated Blood, Jed becomes a Rank 4 Thunder Warg King and leads the pack in battle. His lightning paralyzes Lesser Lycans, while Randolph’s armor turns him into a better-protected battle mount. By Whitebridge, his improved speed lets Lux catch retreating allies and cross long distances quickly, making Jed essential to both tactical withdrawal and rapid intervention. (Chapters 183, 211, 334)
The Divine Army reckoning
During Lux’s campaign inside the Divine Army’s domain, Jed remains his chosen ground mount. Lux summons him to move west toward concentrations of Deimos-Ranked monsters, then charges with him while coordinating Cethus’s Gravity Domain against a dinosaur-like enemy. Jed’s continued service at this much later stage shows durability of role and loyalty, though the corpus does not record a new evolution beyond Thunder Warg King. (Chapter 969)
Appearance and personality
Jed begins as a black Warg distinguished by a scar over his right eye. After mutation, lightning coils around his body and Randolph outfits him in elaborate protective armor. He is disciplined, responsive, and protective rather than independently talkative: he lowers himself for riders, follows routes and charge commands, and positions himself against threats to Lux. (Chapters 105, 163, 183)
Abilities and skills
As a summoned mount, Jed can enter Lux’s Soul Book and reappear on command, but he remains a living Beast Companion who needs food and water; neglect can reduce loyalty and cause a mount to leave. His original Rank 3 physique is enough to fight Rank 2 Dire Wolves, while mutation raises him to Rank 4, enhances speed, and grants lightning capable of paralyzing multiple Lesser Lycans. (Chapters 105, 163, 183)
Jed’s strongest applications are mobility, mounted combat, pack leadership, and electrical control. Armor improves his survivability but does not make him invulnerable, and Lux’s later neglect of the Wargs’ development leaves most of the pack behind Jed. Against Deimos-class enemies, Jed primarily carries Lux into position while stronger attacks and allies handle the decisive exchange. (Chapters 183, 211, 549, 969)
Relationships
- Lux: Jed’s master and rider, who names, feeds, evolves, and repeatedly entrusts his movement and safety to him. (Chapters 105, 183, 969)
- Randolph: The blacksmith who creates Jed’s battle armor. (Chapter 183)
- Diablo: A fellow mounted combatant beside whom Jed and the Warg pack support Lux’s forces. (Chapter 183)
