Boris
Boris is the Initiate-ranked Adventurer’s Guild branch master responsible for Bradford Town. A practical veteran rather than a romantic hero, he works with Lux to evacuate more than ten thousand civilians from a Rat Monster outbreak and openly acknowledges the limits of what their defenders can save.
Biography
The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain
Guthram sends Lux to Boris with a letter just as Bradford’s population must flee toward Aeston. Boris treats Lux’s warning about the pursuing Rat Monsters seriously, accelerates the column, and requests more Bone Wagons while suppressing information that could cause a fatal panic. He gives Lux the promised recommendation early and admits that neither of them should become martyrs once rescue becomes impossible. Yet when Guthram arrives and the line stabilizes, Boris raises his sword and charges with his adventurers. The refugees survive, and his introductions later grant Lux access to Vahan’s senior guild network. (Chapters 333, 336, 339, 342, 345)
Appearance and personality
The corpus identifies Boris as an experienced human guildmaster but does not establish his hair, eyes, age, or clothing. His personality is unusually candid: he cares about the civilians under his authority while refusing to pretend he can save everyone or sacrifice himself without regard for his responsibilities. That realism does not make him passive. Once reinforcements create a defensible battle, he laughs, rallies his subordinates, and enters the fighting, showing courage governed by conditions rather than a desire for heroic appearance. (Chapters 336, 339, 342)
Guildmaster abilities
Initiate combat and evacuation command
Boris is an Initiate capable of fighting Rank 4 Rat Monsters with a sword and leading hundreds of Apostles and eight Initiates. His primary demonstrated strength is emergency command: he evaluates reports, controls information to prevent a stampede, hastens a column of more than ten thousand people, and coordinates adventurers with Lux’s summoned transport. The scale also defines his limit. Most defenders are only Grade D or C, and Boris states that they cannot stop thousands of Rank 4 monsters; a successful stand requires Lux, Guthram, and layered reinforcements. (Chapters 336, 339, 342)
