Airon
Airon is the Nightmare Horse ridden by Diablo. A combat creature rather than a human namesake, it supplies speed, fire magic, and the mounted platform that unlocks Diablo’s rider and charge techniques within Lux’s early undead formations.
Biography
Awakening and Leaf Village
Airon first supports the operation against the Orc camps by imbuing the Skeleton Grand Archers’ arrows with flame, firing Flame Lances, and attacking in unison with Diablo as a fellow peak Rank 2 Monster. It later scouts dungeons, burns corrupted Treants, and joins the defense against the Beast Tide. During the Whitebridge competition, Airon carries Diablo back into mounted combat for Hero’s Charge against a Deimos-Ranked Warthog. The collision helps finish the monster but leaves Airon at roughly one-quarter health, requiring Aina’s healing and proving that the mount’s courage and offensive utility exceed its durability against vastly stronger enemies. (Chapters 101, 132, 172, 204, 208, 210)
The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain
Near Bradford Town, Lux orders Diablo to dismount Airon and use an ordinary Warg while wearing a cloak. The decision is precautionary rather than a rejection of the Nightmare Horse: a visibly undead rider on a monstrous flaming mount could be mistaken for an attacker by frightened human guards. Airon consequently remains out of the town approach and has no documented role in the subsequent Hidden Domain crisis. This is its final direct mention, so the corpus supports continued availability at that point but supplies no later death, rank increase, or replacement. (Chapter 334)
Appearance and personality
Airon is a Nightmare Horse whose monstrous and fiery nature is conspicuous enough that Lux avoids displaying it near nervous civilians. Its eyes glow brightly when battle lust takes hold, and village statues commemorate Diablo riding it at the center of Lux’s early force. Airon shows no speech or independent interior thought; characterization comes through aggression, obedience, and willingness to charge enemies much stronger than itself. (Chapters 101, 172, 210, 334)
Abilities and skills
Airon fires Flame Lances and can channel its flames into allied arrows, giving ranged units incendiary damage. As Diablo’s mount it also supplies mobility and activates the Skeleton Rider’s mounted, rider, and charge skills; during Hero’s Charge, Airon’s body becomes enveloped in flame while Diablo delivers the spear attack. The distinction matters mechanically: the 300-percent damage formula and bonus against larger targets come from Diablo’s medallion and skill, not Airon alone. Airon is only Rank 2 in the documented period and lacks Diablo’s extreme buffs, so direct collisions with Deimos-Ranked creatures can grievously injure or kill it unless Diablo absorbs much of the impact. (Chapters 101, 132, 208, 210)
