Tim's Watch

Overview

Tim's Watch is a gold, blank-faced artifact that consumes fate zeal to detect danger and respond before its wearer could react unaided. Tim uses it as warning system, shield, teleporter, and artifact launcher; after Theo recovers it, inadequate fuel reduces it to a few precious warnings rather than the versatile defense Tim demonstrated. History

Tim's automated defense

Tim first reveals the watch as a gold case whose ordinary clock face has been replaced by a dull silver plate. When a Shadowblade tail approaches from behind, the watch glows red, alerts him, and projects interlocking force-zeal hexagons that stop the ambush. It subsequently warns him about Tivana, teleports him away from attacks without a spoken command, and releases six colored disks. During Segolas's sacrificial hex it flashes emerald before Tim reflects the spell. These repeated interventions make the watch a central reason that coordinated surprise attacks fail to kill him. A captured tool with dwindling fuel

After Tim's defeat, Theo holds the watch in Dimensional Storage but cannot reproduce its former performance because he lacks an appropriate source of fate zeal. He crushes a four-star Fatecharm Luck Pill over its face, which the artifact absorbs, and later wears it during the summit and in the capital. Its last documented flare warns him of an ambush by the false Archreaver Samuel just early enough to manifest armor. That warning consumes the bare trickle of fuel remaining; the watch is not shown breaking, but no later recharge or activation is documented. (Chapters 122, 158, 173)

Abilities and properties

• Danger warning: The watch detects incoming threats, changes color, and alerts its wearer before impact. Its autonomous warning can cover attacks from behind or enemies moving too quickly for ordinary perception. (Chapters 119, 121, 173)
• Defensive responses: Under Tim it projects a force shield and triggers short-range teleportation. The text does not establish whether Theo learns to select those functions, and he only demonstrates the warning effect. (Chapters 119, 121, 158)
• Stored artifacts or attacks: Tim releases six colored disks from the watch, but their exact relationship to its fate-warning mechanism and their final effects remain uncertain. (Chapter 121)
• Fuel limitation: The artifact consumes fate zeal. Theo cannot power it normally and substitutes dust from a Fatecharm Luck Pill; by Chapter 173 even that reserve is exhausted. (Chapters 158, 173)
