Blackgorge Statues
Overview
The Blackgorge Statues are a collection of one thousand ancient human figures whose internal zeal patterns collectively preserve the World Titan Fiendbody. A Blackgorge ancestor derived the tribe's reduced body-cultivation art from one statue; Theo's analysis of a larger sample recovers enough knowledge to reconstruct a stronger Bronze-realm path without exhausting the collection's secrets. (Chapters 186, 188)
History
A looted hall retains its real treasure
Assyrus discovers the statues beyond broken bronze doors in Blackgorge Valley, where obvious valuables appear to have been looted long ago. Each human figure has a unique pose, inscription, and faint internal zeal flow. The Wanderer's Universal Analyzer identifies individual subjects such as Alasir, Malron, Elirith, and Xoreth and explains that the complete set records an ancient attempt to perfect the body beyond its designed form. This reveals that the collection's surviving knowledge, not portable treasure, is the hall's principal value. (Chapter 186)
Partial analysis restores Blackgorge cultivation
Theo spends points to analyze 125 statues while Yorik moves his sickbed from figure to figure. The resulting fragments reveal the World Titan Fiendbody and explain how a tribe ancestor used one part to create the lesser Blackgorge Fiendbody. Theo and Yorik cannot comprehend the full art, but they recover and extrapolate enough to document Bronze Bone and portions of Bronze Marrow. After the valley is reclaimed, tribe members resume pilgrimages to the standing monuments while Theo combines the recovered knowledge with a damaged manual. Higher Silver, Gold, and Diamond stages remain unresolved in this phase. (Chapters 186, 188)
Abilities and properties
- Encoded cultivation knowledge: Faint zeal paths within each statue preserve a different fragment of the World Titan Fiendbody. The set must be studied collectively for the original art; one fragment produces only the reduced tribal derivative. (Chapter 186)
- Analyzer-assisted access: Inscriptions initially use an unreadable language, and Theo relies on the Universal Analyzer and purchased analyses. Studying 125 costs 6,250 points, establishing a resource limit on immediate extraction. (Chapter 186)
- Replicable analysis, immovable originals: Purchased analyses make copies available through Theo's cultivation systems, but the physical monuments remain communal structures in the valley rather than objects he or Yorik takes into private custody. (Chapters 186, 188)
- Incomplete progression: The analyzed material supports reconstruction through the peak of Bronze, while higher stages require further study and access to the Cultivation Chamber. The corpus does not confirm that all one thousand statues are ever decoded. (Chapters 186, 188)
Custody and users
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Blackgorge Tribe | Communal custodian; ancestors derive the Blackgorge Fiendbody from the collection, and later orcs make pilgrimages to it. (Chapters 186, 188) |
| Theodore Waltz | Uses the Universal Analyzer on part of the set and records a restored Bronze-realm cultivation path. He does not own the originals. (Chapters 186, 188) |
| Yorik | Moves Theo among the statues, studies their formulas with him, and helps interpret the improved cultivation path. (Chapter 186) |
| Assyrus Azure | Discovers and first reports the collection beyond the broken bronze doors. (Chapter 186) |
