Biography

The Cult, Counterparts, and Immortal Ascension

Valanda is a homeless Sorcerer surviving in the Elven Star Dominion while a craving for human vitality and heavy debt narrow her choices. Although she initially pressures Theodore Waltz's group for vitality, she later tries to warn them that they are being followed and is arrested with them. Theo offers escape from the life that has trapped her, and she repays the opportunity by tackling an official during the jailbreak, guiding the group through city shortcuts, and fighting through the Immortal Ascendant ambush despite severe burns. After healing in Hearthwood she joins later defenses and helps salvage Dominion arrays, while Sava Greenstem repays her service with vitality potions. Theo still hesitates to assume she wants permanent membership, so her latest position is that of an active ally rather than an unambiguous lifelong vassal. (Chapters 383, 390–395, 398, 415, 438)

Appearance and personality

Valanda is a tall, broad-shouldered elf with the tough build of a body cultivator. Scratching and twitching expose her craving for human vitality. She can be pushy and opportunistic, but her warning before the arrest and her conduct during the escape show practical courage and a willingness to repay help. (Chapters 383, 390–393)

Abilities and cultivation

Valanda is a Sorcerer who follows an orc-derived body-cultivation path. Zeal-suppressing cuffs interfere far less with that path than with spirit cultivation, allowing her to remain physically dangerous while detained. She excels at tackles and repeated close-range weapon strikes and also understands local array technology. Immortal fire burns her badly, establishing that her toughness does not match an Immortal Ascendant's offense without healing and allies. (Chapters 392–395, 398, 415)

• Theodore Waltz: Theo offers Valanda a route out of debt and imprisonment; she becomes a capable escape partner and combat ally, though he does not presume permanent loyalty. (Chapters 392–395, 438)
• Sava Greenstem: Sava compensates Valanda with the human-vitality potions she craves. (Chapter 438)
• Assyrus Azure and Amisra Copperguard: Valanda fights beside Hearthwood's veteran body cultivators in later battles. (Chapters 395, 398)
