Countess Frostweaver
Biography
The blood-spire rebellion
Ashanel Frostweaver is Queen Lyanva's younger sister and Illiel's mother. Seeking a future for elves she believes were remade to serve stronger beings, she chooses the Frozen Blood Witch, builds a blood spire through Deania's capital, converts followers into parasitic vampires, and pierces the world's protective barrier in exchange for promised advancement. Theodore Waltz and Tivana organize a counterattack that separates her from the Witch's power, destroys the spire, and ends the vampire occupation. After Lyanva's return, Frostweaver is delivered for imprisonment and punishment; the corpus does not document a later release or death. (Chapters 251–271, 280, 283, 296, 301)
Appearance and personality
Frostweaver is an elven noblewoman whose later vampire state includes paler features and lengthened canines. She wears a silver collar tied to her goddess and presents herself with composed aristocratic certainty. Her betrayal is ideological as well as ambitious: she argues that elves should accept their remade nature and serve the power that created it. She remains tactically cautious in battle, retreating through ice and using layered deception rather than meeting Theo's strength directly. (Chapters 251–268)
Abilities and cultivation
Frostweaver is normally an Early Sorcerer. The blood spire channels enough power from the Frozen Blood Witch to raise her temporarily to Late Sorcerer, but the interrupted transfer does not make her a Demigod. She shapes ice into walls, blades, hail, and movement paths; slips through her frozen domain; projects mind-magic duplicates; and manifests an aura resembling her goddess. Her mind illusions have detectable structural flaws under spirit sight, close combat favors Theo, and her temporary enhancement depends on the spire and external patron. (Chapters 262–268)
Relationships
- Illiel: Illiel is Frostweaver's daughter. Frostweaver's alliance lets the Witch possess Illiel, turning political ambition into direct harm to her own family. (Chapters 251–268)
- Queen Lyanva: Lyanva is Frostweaver's elder sister and ultimately orders her confinement after the blood-spire defeat. (Chapters 268–270, 283)
- Tivana: Tivana is Frostweaver's niece and royal rival. Their conflict over the capital becomes a contest between Deanian rule and the Witch's promised order. (Chapters 251–268)
Items
- Silver devotional collar: The collar symbolizes Frostweaver's bond to the Frozen Blood Witch, carries a communication function, and physically blocks an ordinary zeal-restricting collar from closing around her neck. Its final custody after capture is not documented. (Chapter 262)
- Blood spire: Frostweaver constructs this large ice-and-blood working to channel her patron and breach the world barrier. It is a fixed ritual structure, not a portable possession, and it is neutralized during the capital battle. (Chapters 251–268)
