Black Key

History

Jinwoo Sung obtains an unidentified black key by choosing a cursed mystery box as the reward for completing the first Collect Demon Souls quest. The item remains inert until he reaches the required condition, which he infers is level 100.

Once the condition is fulfilled, the key begins shining and its name changes to the Cartenon Temple’s Key. Its System description states that it unlocks an entrance at a designated gate, but withholds the location until a countdown of roughly seventeen days expires.

Jinwoo monitors the timer while preparing for whatever the System has arranged. When it reaches zero, the destination is revealed. He travels to the designated ordinary gate, where a System message tells him that the door is locked and asks whether he wants to use the key. Inserting it opens the way back to the Cartenon Temple and consumes the single-use item.

Properties and use

The Black Key is a quest-access item rather than a weapon or stat-enhancing tool. Its function is controlled by the System: it remains unidentified before Jinwoo satisfies the level requirement, reveals its destination only after a fixed delay, and operates solely on the corresponding dungeon door.

The item cannot substitute for an ordinary gate permit or unlock unrelated barriers. Its importance lies in directing Jinwoo back to the double dungeon where his connection to the System began.
