Syceus

Syceus is one of the Gigantes' eight great gods, blessed by Mother Earth and assigned to capture Athena alive. His obsession with her makes him useful to Persephone's plan, but Yeon-woo intercepts the pursuit, kills him, and turns his spirit into a source of intelligence.

Biography

The hunter becomes a captive spirit

Mother Earth selects Athena as a possible vessel and sends Syceus because his fixation on her makes him a willing hunter. Leading Gigantes forces through Tartarus, he corners Athena until Yeon-woo's sudden arrival cracks the sword representing his authority and exposes a power he cannot classify. Yeon-woo kills both Syceus and Typhon, captures their spirits, and tortures them in the Purgatory Furnace for information about Kronos. Syceus initially refuses to betray Mother Earth, but Typhon answers first, leaving Syceus shocked and without leverage. (Chapters 555–558)

Appearance and personality

The corpus gives no detailed physical description of Syceus. He carries a representative sword and leads troops with the assurance of a great god. He is obsessive toward Athena, proud of his allegiance, and more resistant to interrogation than Typhon, yet his confidence collapses into silence when his companion immediately betrays their cause. Abilities and powers

Syceus possesses Gigantes divinity reinforced by Mother Earth's blessing. He uses a sword, can survive the first instant of Yeon-woo's ambush through quick reflexes, and employs Hydra's venom, one of the few poisons capable of harming supreme gods. His authority is connected to Persephone through a Channel. Once Yeon-woo kills him, that Channel breaks; as a captured spirit he can speak and retain knowledge but cannot escape the Purgatory Furnace. (Chapters 556–558, 588, 591)

• Athena: Syceus is obsessed with Athena and pursues her for Mother Earth's plan to secure a new vessel.
• Yeon-woo: Yeon-woo interrupts the hunt, kills Syceus, and tortures his spirit for information.
