Kindred

Kindred is the Pestilence Ghost, a predatory high ranker who becomes the Devil Army's Second Bishop. His repeated conflicts with Yeon-woo are driven not only by factional hostility but by the Devil Army's longing for the Heavenly Demon, whose silence Kindred interprets as abandonment. Long after those plans fail, he survives with the remnant army and proves pragmatic enough to separate personal hatred from institutional recovery.

Biography

A solitary predator becomes a bishop

Kindred first appears on the twentieth floor as a childlike high ranker with the aura of a solitary beast, attacking Yeon-woo abruptly to test him. That appetite for dangerous prey fits his later rise beneath Hughl as the Devil Army's Second Bishop. During the struggle around Sesha, Kindred enters an illusory space, tears through it to attack Brahm, and tries to secure what the army wants before Agares' descent makes the gap between a high ranker and a Grand Demon Duke unavoidable. Seeking a replacement for divine abandonment

Kindred and the Head Bishop crave acknowledgment from the Heavenly Demon, and his continued silence pushes them toward the Seven Great Demon Kings instead. Kindred helps turn Kahn and the Ruyi Bang fragments into part of a sacrificial plan, using followers and borrowed legacies to construct a new route to transcendence. Yeon-woo later recognizes the motive as a misunderstanding of the Heavenly Demon's intent, but the scheme's failures deepen Kindred's hostility rather than granting the divine recognition he wants. Survival and calculated diplomacy

After losing its old position, the Devil Army withdraws to the Bull Demon King's Northern Magic Temple, where Kindred remains Second Bishop in a quieter but vigilant society. When the One-horned tribe sends an invitation, Hughl expects Kindred's personal hatred of Yeon-woo to decide his answer. Kindred instead recommends attending, arguing that public contact with a strong tribe will demonstrate the Devil Army's survival. The decision shows that defeat has not reconciled him with Yeon-woo, but has taught him to protect the institution before his grudge. (Chapter 847)

Appearance and personality

Kindred usually appears as a mischievous-looking child or boy, sometimes shadowed by a hood. The harmless proportions conceal intense demonic energy and the sense of a beast waiting for its smile to disappear. In combat his fingers curve like claws and his movements become predatory, reinforcing why observers compare him to a lone hunter rather than an ordinary child. (Chapters 151–152, 201, 329, 409)

He is playful, greedy, violent, and proud of unsettling others. Kindred treats surprise attacks as tests and reacts furiously when Yeon-woo mocks the Heavenly Demon's abandonment. Yet his latest choice is notably practical: he can distinguish the Devil Army's public interest from his private anger and advise Hughl without dramatizing his own grievance. Demonic movement and spatial tearing

Kindred can tear open space with his hands, pass through an illusory world's boundaries, and attack with claw-like strikes before a target can settle. His free movement during the confrontation with Brahm makes an artificial world behave as though it belongs to him. This mobility does not make him untouchable: Brahm evades with Blink, and Agares' descent immediately forces Kindred to reassess rather than challenge an overwhelmingly higher demon. Pestilence Ghost power

The title Pestilence Ghost accompanies Kindred's dense demonic energy and ghostlike appearances from shadow. The scoped evidence demonstrates pressure, concealment, and violent close combat but does not provide a complete disease-transmission mechanic, so the title should not be expanded into unsupported plague effects. His strength is sufficient for high-ranker status and the Second Bishop's office, not equality with unrestricted transcendents. (Chapters 151–155, 329, 409–412)

Borrowed legacies and ritual planning

Kindred participates in the Devil Army's effort to use Ruyi Bang fragments, a prepared vessel, and the Seven Great Demon Kings after access to the Heavenly Demon fails. These arrangements can bring power through contracts or manifestation, but the resulting divinity is borrowed and constrained by its vessel and the law of causality. By the latest chapter, Kindred is shown acting as a surviving bishop and adviser rather than wielding a permanently acquired complete Monkey King legacy. (Chapters 329–334, 489, 847)

• Yeon-woo: Kindred repeatedly attacks Yeon-woo and comes to hold an unusually bitter grudge against him. He later sets that grievance aside when Devil Army diplomacy requires it.
• Kahn: Kindred uses Kahn's collection of Ruyi Bang fragments in the Devil Army's sacrificial plan, treating his progress as a route to the power the bishops seek.
