Rufus

Rufus is Hellan's second prince, a celebrated prodigy whose political failures end in exile.

Biography

A prince removed from succession

Rufus is introduced as a rare genius supported by royal resources. During Hellan's reconstruction, Conner removes Rufus and Lionel from the capital and sends them to the Zelan Dynasty as hostages because neither knows how to activate Gladiolus's true defenses. That decision leaves Ernest as the only practical royal heir able to help. Rufus is subsequently exiled from Hellan and chooses to enter the Misty Sect in the Central Continent. The corpus establishes no later redemption, return, or independent achievement after exile. (Chapters 213, 431, 470, 559, 712)
