Matthew
Matthew is Anna's eldest son, William's cousin, Leah's husband, and a defender of Lont. His importance lies in remaining a vulnerable family target who nevertheless continues fighting for the household.
Biography
Staying behind to defend Lont
Enemy factions consider capturing Matthew as leverage against William, and both Oliver and Deus-related intelligence warn that such an attempt would provoke relentless retaliation. When larger campaigns draw William away, Matthew and Leah remain in Lont to protect the community after stronger guardians depart. They welcome returning allies and preserve the Ainsworth home rather than chase distant glory. By the War of Destruction Matthew is still fighting beside his family, with Leah identified as his wife. (Chapters 9, 175, 371, 433–485, 1451–1452)
