Evander

Evander Zeke is the prosperous Great Chief of the Northern Tribes and a disciplined political leader.

Biography

Holding the Northern Tribes together

Evander succeeds his father and governs well enough to bring prosperity and happiness for years, earning the satisfaction of the other tribal leaders. During negotiations he becomes angry enough at William to grip his armchair and consider killing the boy, but restrains himself because the Great Chief must model discipline for every warrior. That restraint preserves the possibility of alliance instead of turning the visit into bloodshed. Evander later personally welcomes Prince Ernest and his granddaughter to the Kyrintor Mountains, maintaining the tribes' diplomatic role. (Chapters 242, 251, 314)
