Barbatos is Lont's veteran blacksmith and a capable defender whose forged weapons become William's standard for quality.

Biography

Forging and defending Lont

Barbatos first appears wielding a mithril hammer against attacking wolves and treating battle as a change from pounding ingots. During the Southern Continental War, he and Lont's veterans place a powerful formation around Town Hall that excludes unaffiliated intruders. His craftsmanship remains important even off the battlefield: William develops his own Blacksmith class because he wants the Legion's equipment to equal or surpass Barbatos's work. James later orders Barbatos with the reinforcement force sent to Avalon. (Chapters 30, 326, 417, 742)
