Aziel

Aziel is the second prince of the Anaesha Dynasty and a summoner who fights William over the proposed political marriage to Brianna. His reliance on summoned ants ends when William kills him in the duel. (Chapters 246–250)

Biography

A political betrothal ending in a fatal duel

Aziel arrives in the Kyrintor Mountains as part of a three-party alliance and expects the eleven-year-old Brianna to become his second wife. William invokes local chivalric law to challenge that claim. Aziel accepts and repeatedly summons Blood-Eyed Torment Ant Soldiers and Centennial-ranked commanders through the Onyx Medallion, ordering them to kill William. When the ants are defeated, William's flaming spear reduces Aziel and his ambitions to ashes, and the surviving medallion passes into William's hands. (Chapters 246–250, 353, and 354)

Appearance and personality

Aziel wears a red robe and has silky light-brown hair and conventionally handsome features. He is disdainful toward Hellanians, entitled in his approach to Brianna, and murderous once the duel turns serious. (Chapters 246 and 249)

Skills, classes, and divinities

Aziel uses the Onyx Medallion to summon numerous Blood-Eyed Torment Ant Soldiers and stronger ant commanders. The evidence does not establish substantial abilities independent of the medallion or any Divinity. (Chapters 248, 249, and 353)
