Yulin's model successor

Yeon Buso is the eldest adopted son of Great Leader Yi Mok, leader of the elite North Justice Blade, and one of the next generation's Five Strongest warriors. His engagement to Yulin strategist Jegal Sohi joins martial prestige to political judgment. Those around him regard Buso as nearly perfect, a reputation that also intensifies the hostility of his adopted brother Kang Soah. (Chapters 198–199, 385, and 404–406)

Confrontation at the imperial temple

When the Demonic Cult supplants Yulin's faith as the state religion, Buso leads North Justice Blade forces to the imperial temple. The orthodox leaders expect him to be strong enough to restrain Yeowun, but the ease with which Yeowun overpowers their superior masters makes Buso reassess the situation before drawing his weapon. He identifies the concealed Demonic Lord because Yeowun is the one man whose level his entry-stage supreme mastery cannot read. (Chapters 383–385)

Buso first tries diplomacy. He apologizes for the temple attack, explains why the abrupt religious change provoked Yulin, and argues that their alliance against the Blade God clan should not be broken over the incident. Yeowun severs Buso's right arm before he can perceive the attack. Enraged by what he sees as deliberate humiliation, Buso continues with his left hand and remotely drives three blades using an art learned from Yi Mok. Yeowun stops the weapons and turns them back into Buso's body, making the difference between supreme and Divine Master power unmistakable. Broken pride and withdrawal

Losing an arm does not stop Buso from training after his return, but the defeat breaks his confidence. He repeatedly calls Yeowun a monster, and his spirit shows no sign of recovering even while he forces his body to continue. Yi Mok begins considering Kang Soah as a possible successor despite longstanding reservations, turning Buso's personal collapse into an institutional opening for the brother who has always resented him. Kang's later death and Buso's near-fatal condition compound Sohi's anger during the North Sea crisis.
