Malik

Malik is a human memory-ability user whose need to be wanted makes him dependent on Jim and willing to rewrite other people's identities for Jim's plans. His touch-based God Slayer power is used to control Sil, Ray, and mass public history until Vincent kills him to ensure that no faction can use him again. (Chapters 1461–1464, 2005–2255, and 2293–2306)

Biography

Captivity and dependence on Jim

Malik is imprisoned with Truedream, a Jim clone, and Dalki during a laboratory escape. Truedream quickly recognises Malik's childlike manner and near-obsessive reliance on Jim. Malik helps the group because he trusts that any Jim clone shares the original's mind, even when he does not understand the technical plan and fears losing the person who gives him direction. (Chapters 1461–1464)

Later evidence explains that Malik was abandoned during the Dalki war and used his memory power to create a false family by rewriting strangers. Their real relatives exposed him, after which he was imprisoned and eventually taken by Graham. Jim and Jack then gave him luxury, a Nest Crystal that extended his life, and the feeling of being indispensable. That care was instrumental, but it met Malik's deepest need strongly enough that he carried out their orders willingly. (Chapters 2296 and 2302)

Rewriting the war and death

Jim uses Malik to replace personal memories and makes his power available for Sil to copy. Combined with a device that drains Sil's MC cells, the copied ability changes memories across a mass range; Malik is kept near Sil or Ray so the manipulation can be renewed or targeted. Ray's memories of Quinn are removed and replaced with a false history that casts Quinn as the enemy. (Chapters 2005–2255)

Vincent later hunts Malik aboard the Marpo Cruise because leaving the power accessible could allow another ruler to repeat the war. Malik is defenceless, apologises without understanding what he did wrong, and confirms by his response how thoroughly dependence has displaced independent judgment. Vincent first cuts his legs from range, then kills him with a blood swipe through the neck. Malik turns to dust and leaves a crystal, which is returned to the God Slayer vault; those later crystal scenes do not show Malik alive. (Chapters 2293–2306)

Appearance and personality

Malik is a human young adult of about twenty-one with slightly tanned skin and ordinary clothing. He is physically adult but described as childlike, emotionally dependent, and intensely afraid of abandonment. He does not display Jim's calculating personality: he follows Jim because being needed gives him the family and purpose he previously manufactured through his own power. Powers and abilities

Touch-based memory manipulation

Malik can alter, remove, or replace another person's memories after physical contact. The changed material can be extensive enough to reverse loyalties and construct a false personal history. Touch is a mandatory condition, making distance a direct counter; Vincent refuses to approach him and attacks with blood swipes. Malik is not a trained fighter and has no demonstrated strong Qi, beast gear, or ranged application of his own. (Chapters 2106–2120 and 2296)

God Slayer source and mass amplification

Malik's ability originates from a stolen God Slayer crystal, although the thief and circumstances by which it reached him remain unknown. Sil can copy the human ability through contact, and a purpose-built device then spends Sil's entire MC-cell reserve to distribute the effect widely. The large-scale result is therefore an interaction among Malik's source power, Sil's copying, and the machine—not a range Malik personally demonstrates unaided. After death his power persists only in the murky-coloured crystal returned to the vault. (Chapters 2107–2117 and 2302–2306)

Relationships

• Jim: Jim gives Malik comfort and purpose in exchange for unrestricted use of his memory power. Malik treats Jim and his clones as the same guiding mind and obeys even when he does not understand the plan. (Chapters 1461–1464, 2120, and 2296)
• Sil: Malik permits Sil to copy his ability, after which Jim's machinery forces Sil to perform mass memory changes. Malik and Sil remain separate people and supply different parts of that system. (Chapters 2107–2117)
• Vincent: Vincent regards Malik as both exploited and too dangerous to leave available. He apologises, kills him from outside touch range, and secures the resulting crystal. (Chapters 2293–2302)
