Sun Stealing Token

The Sun Stealing Token is the supreme heirloom of the clandestine Sun Stealing Sect. It stores sect remnant souls, accompanies an inheritance concerned with stealing destinies and making avatars, and may itself be the survival vessel of founder Sikong Yue—although that final identity remains Li Fan's inference rather than confirmed fact.

History

Sect heirloom and remnant-soul vessel

The secretive Sun Stealing Sect generally transmits its inheritance through a single disciple rather than a fixed institution. During Sikong Bo's final flight, he releases the remaining elder souls contained in the token to delay a pursuing child; purple thunder destroys those souls. Mortally wounded, he passes both technique and token to his disciple Sikong Yi. (Chapters 89–90)

Li Fan later kills the relevant Sun Stealing inheritors and takes the token. He calls it remarkable but suppresses his desire to merge with it, judging it unsuitable or suspicious. It remains in his storage for an extended period, while knowledge from the accompanying Sun Stealing method informs clone-making and later identity-changing research. (Chapters 89–91 and 120)

Recovered across cycles

In another cycle Li Fan again kills revived Sun Stealing figures until their returns are exhausted, retrieves the dropped token, and crafts a clone. This repeated acquisition shows how Truth-enabled timelines let him regain the object, not that the sect freely transfers title to him. His possession is seizure and temporary holding after the deaths of its bearers. (Chapter 168)

The token's remnant souls continue to inform Li Fan's recollections, while the Sun Stealing Token Method and Formula later serve as blueprint material for a derived disguise and destiny-seizing technique. By then, learned knowledge can persist independently of physical custody, so later use of the formula should not be mistaken for continued possession of the object. (Chapters 307 and 339–340)

Permanent exchange and possible awakening

The Old Fisherman notices the token among Li Fan's stored objects and finds it interesting. Li Fan completes an exchange, after which the token disappears into the fisherman's custody. Unlike temporary inspection or mission lending, the bargain is presented as a permanent transfer; Li Fan's subsequent access is to remembered methods rather than the token itself. Li Fan later speculates that Sikong Yue, the thirty-eighth Sun Stealing heir and token's creator, may have transformed into the artifact to survive a violent era, absorbed power from later users, and been awakened by the Old Fisherman as a little fisher girl. The narrative explicitly frames this as his guess, leaving both the token's sentient identity and its post-exchange physical state unconfirmed. (Chapter 345, "Demon Lord Changing Faces")

Description and function

The token is a compact sect inheritance object that can contain remnant souls and support the Sun Stealing transmission. Its suspiciously deep function may include acting as a body or vessel for a surviving founder, but the text never converts Li Fan's suspicion into a verified artifact description. It is therefore securely a spirit vessel and inheritance token, only possibly a dormant person. (Chapters 89–91 and 345)

Abilities and limitations

Remnant-soul storage and release

The token holds souls of earlier Sun Stealing elders, which Sikong Bo can release to interfere with a pursuer. Those souls are finite and can be annihilated, as the descending purple thunder demonstrates; the token does not automatically restore them after expenditure. (Chapter 90)

Inheritance and avatar support

Together with the Sun Stealing technique, the token belongs to an inheritance that steals life destinies and creates avatars. Li Fan uses the method in clone research, but regards it as diminished under the post-Immortal-Ancestor cultivation order. Learned formulas also outlast physical custody, separating the token's role from every later technique derived from it. (Chapters 91, 168, and 339–340)

Possible resurrection vessel

Li Fan suspects that a cultivator can merge essence into the token and that Sikong Yue used it to survive and consume later practitioners' power. The possible awakening as a fisher girl would make the token a vessel for an agent rather than ordinary property. Because only Li Fan's speculation supports this explanation, it cannot be stated as a confirmed ability or identity. (Chapters 120 and 345)

Custody and users

• Sun Stealing Sect: Institutional origin and inheritance line; the token is its supreme treasure. (Chapter 89)
• Sikong Bo: Bearer who releases the stored elder souls, then passes the remaining token and technique to Sikong Yi before death. (Chapter 90)

• Li Fan: Repeatedly acquires and stores the token across cycles, uses associated knowledge, and ultimately gives up physical custody in a completed exchange. His period of possession is temporary even though it spans years and more than one timeline. (Chapters 89–91, 120, 168, and 327)
• Old Fisherman: Receives the physical token permanently through exchange. Later events do not show it returning to Li Fan. (Chapters 327 and 329)
• Possible Sikong Yue: If Li Fan's theory is correct, the token contains or becomes its creator, whose personhood would supersede ordinary ownership language. The identification remains unverified. (Chapter 345)
