The Cat Treasure is a juvenile, sentient or semi-sentient treasure fished from beyond the High Wall. It commonly appears as an orange kitten, but can replicate objects, simulate living forms, cleanse marrow, store things within itself, and—under exceptional circumstances—independently hunt a True Immortal projection.

History

Fished from beyond the High Wall

The treasure enters Xuanhuang through the Fishing Pond as a white light orb or cat statue that manifests a sleeping kitten. Li Ping gives it its working name and keeps it nearby. The source initially presents it as a juvenile divine object with an unknown upper limit; later events leave open whether it was accidentally caught or deliberately took the Fishing Pond's bait. Growth in the Holy Dynasty

As it grows, the kitten communicates desires and reluctance rather than behaving like a passive implement. It reveals a box form that copies covered objects and a blue-sphere form that records a creature before reproducing its form. Its behaviour includes fear, curiosity, longing for rewards, affection toward Li Ping, and open refusal: after ten replication tasks it becomes emotionally exhausted, goes on strike, and sleeps despite offers of more source power. (Chapters 1241, 1266, 1290, and 1294)

The Holy Dynasty combines its powers experimentally. Life-form simulation and marrow cleansing let it impart part of the You bloodline to humans, after which replicated flesh produces imperfect prayer-working clones. It also carries a Binding Space Ring in its belly and later makes multiple copies, showing both internal storage and replication without erasing the creature's freedom to choose whether to cooperate. (Chapters 1276, 1279, and 1283)

The hunter of a True Immortal

When shown a True Immortal projection, the Cat Treasure reacts as if seeing long-awaited prey. It leaps without waiting for an order, swallows the projection, locates the true body at the Immortal Ruins, and jumps toward it; the event is associated with the collapse of the High Wall. This independent hunt reveals a scale of predatory ability not suggested by its ordinary juvenile phase. (Chapter 1302)

The following retrospective describes even the phantom as inadequate food, but the sequence belongs to a timeline Li Fan subsequently resets. It therefore proves a possible capability and motive, not a stable latest physical location or permanent post-battle condition for the kitten in every later life. (Chapter 1304)

Description and function

Its resting form is an orange kitten whose body and thick fur grow over time. For replication it becomes a small square box emitting light; for biological recording it can become a blue sphere, then reproduce a scanned life form so completely that it can multiply or evolve according to that target's traits. Source-power essence serves as a prized food and operating resource. (Chapters 1241, 1283, and 1294)

Abilities and limitations

Object replication

The square-box form covers and duplicates objects, including the Binding Space Ring. The process can reproduce valuable or unusual artifacts, but demands enormous energy and sustained effort. Repeated requests cause emotional exhaustion and refusal, so replication is constrained by both fuel and the Cat Treasure's willingness. (Chapters 1241, 1266, and 1279)

Life-form simulation and marrow cleansing

The blue-sphere form records a living target and lets the treasure transform into the same life form. Combined with marrow cleansing, it can alter human bloodline traits and support indirect replication of flesh. The resulting You-bloodline prayer clones reach only about one fifth of the original efficiency, demonstrating that an experimental workaround does not guarantee perfect functional copying. (Chapter 1283)

Storage and transformation

The kitten can keep a space ring within its belly and return it when asked, while its transformations range from tool-like geometries to living forms. The text does not establish an unlimited inventory capacity, and its cooperation remains voluntary rather than automatic. (Chapters 1276 and 1297)

True Immortal predation

Its strongest shown act is swallowing a True Immortal projection and pursuing the associated true body across a vast separation. Before that event Li Ping explicitly treats it as lacking conventional combat ability, so the predatory response appears target-specific or tied to its deeper origin. Because the event is reset, the long-term result remains uncertain. (Chapters 1297, 1302, and 1304)

Custody and users

  • Fishing Pond participants: Draw the treasure into Xuanhuang but do not thereby establish lasting ownership over a sentient being. (Chapter 1221)
  • Li Ping: Names, feeds, protects, and collaborates with the kitten. Their affectionate relationship is best described as caregiving and companionship, not possession. (Chapters 1221, 1290, and 1294)
  • Cat Treasure: Communicates preferences, refuses tasks, goes on strike, reacts to perceived prey, and launches its own True Immortal hunt. Its agency is independent even when it accepts Li Ping's requests. (Chapters 1266, 1297, and 1302)
  • Li Fan: Learns of and benefits indirectly from its abilities through the Holy Dynasty, but chooses to leave the creature with Li Ping rather than becoming its direct owner. (Chapters 1283–1290)
