The Boundless Mirror is a damaged bronze mirror able to conceal itself from the Tianxuan Mirror, steal information from it, and project possible futures. Its history cannot be reduced to ownership: Sun Luyao's soul resides within it, while the mirror itself displays recognition and reactions not identical to that resident consciousness.

History

The Sun brothers and a resident soul

Sun Luyuan and Sun Luyao found the slightly damaged bronze mirror in ruins roughly a thousand years before its introduction. The Tianxuan Mirror could neither perceive nor catalogue it. When Sun Luyao was mortally wounded while guarding his brother's Nascent Soul breakthrough, the artifact reacted and drew his soul inside, preserving him but also confining him as its resident spirit. The brothers then built their family's rise around the mirror's hidden access and future projection. Damage continually eroded Sun Luyao's soul, so Sun Luyuan supplied blood and essence to sustain him. This made Sun Luyuan both co-discoverer and caretaker, while Sun Luyao remained a living trapped person whose survival depended on the artifact and those resources. (Chapters 1159–1160 and 1202)

Li Fan's seizure, repair, and exploitation

Li Fan broke the Sun family's blood-sacrifice arrangement, claimed control of the mirror, and forced Sun Luyao to perform deductions despite his pleas. He hid a clone inside the artifact and constructed control formations, using the mirror to steal an immortal-grade formation thought and later a miniature Tianxuan Mirror while spying on restricted information. (Chapters 1160–1161, 1167, and 1174)

Repairs improved performance but did not remove the original danger. Heavy surveillance caused the mirror to shake and crack, while experiments with fragments exposed the Obliterating Wind Calamity embedded in its damage. Li Fan repeatedly spent resources to revive the resident mirror spirit, yet the Return character could collapse its formations and threaten to eject Sun Luyao. (Chapters 1201, 1203, 1206–1208, 1239, 1266, and 1268)

Fragmentation and alternate outcomes

In one outcome Li Fan erased Sun Luyao and installed a fabricated personality. The Boundless Mirror did not recognize that copy as the same existence, showing that the artifact's own recognition is distinct from both the original resident and the obedient artificial replacement. Later, Li Fan judged the damaged mirror expendable and fed it into Xuanhuang; although its shell dissolved, its law of deduction lingered. (Chapters 1270–1272, 1315–1316)

Other outcomes diverge. A fragment in Zhang Haobo's mind grants premonitory awareness, while another timeline places a badly damaged Boundless Mirror among the Heavenly Doctor's immortal artifacts, able to survive perhaps one activation without immortal spiritual energy. These scenes describe alternate histories, not a single uninterrupted final condition. (Chapters 1357 and 1364)

Description and function

The artifact first appears as a slightly damaged bronze mirror. Its active surface is later described as pitch-black, and Sun Luyao can manifest from it as a black-mist humanoid. It functions as a covert interface, deduction engine, fragment-resonance system, and soul vessel rather than as an ordinary reflective implement. (Chapters 1159, 1205–1208)

Abilities and limitations

Tianxuan concealment and information theft

The Boundless Mirror escapes Tianxuan perception and can secretly enter or interface with the Tianxuan Mirror to extract information. Li Fan uses that property to steal formation knowledge and a small Tianxuan derivative. Excessive spying risks detection and physically destabilizes the mirror, so concealment is powerful but not an unlimited safe channel. (Chapters 1159, 1167, 1174, and 1203)

Future projection and deduction

After accumulating sufficient energy, the mirror can display possible future events. Its fragments preserve parts of this predictive law, as shown by Zhang Haobo's premonition. Projection depends on energy, repair, and the artifact's condition; a badly damaged alternate version may shatter after a single use. (Chapters 1159, 1239, 1357, and 1364)

Primal Chaos Reveals in Form

Li Fan's study and repaired formations allow the mirror to map hidden structures and probe ancient sites, including First Origin ruins. Dangerous targets can answer the probe: the Grand Mage's bones create a crisis, and the embedded Obliterating Wind can exceed the protection offered by an imitation True Immortal script. (Chapters 1206–1211)

Resident-spirit and fragment interface

Fragments excite or destabilize Sun Luyao, while Sun Luyuan's blood calms him. The mirror also recognizes the true resident and rejects a fabricated personality, evidence of semi-sentient artifact agency. Its agency is constrained by Li Fan's formations and damage, but it is not simply interchangeable with Sun Luyao's consciousness. (Chapters 1205–1208 and 1270–1272)

Custody and users

  • Sun Luyuan: Co-discoverer and long-term caretaker who supplies blood and essence; he does not own his brother's soul. (Chapters 1159 and 1202)
  • Sun Luyao: Resident human consciousness preserved inside the mirror. He operates its powers under pressure, but is neither an ordinary wielder nor property. (Chapters 1159–1160)
  • The mirror itself: Shows separate recognition, fear, trembling, and rejection of a false resident, establishing at least semi-sentient agency. (Chapters 1268 and 1270–1272)
  • Li Fan: Seizes and forcibly controls the artifact, repairs it, installs formations, and exploits its resident. Control is established; rightful ownership is not. (Chapters 1160–1167)
  • Alternate custodians and states: Later timelines place the mirror or its fragments with Zhang Haobo, dissolved into Xuanhuang, or among the Heavenly Doctor's artifacts. (Chapters 1316, 1357, and 1364)
  • Tianxuan Mirror is the primary system the Boundless Mirror infiltrates, steals from, and evades. (Chapters 1159, 1167, and 1174)
