Emperor Yi
Emperor Yi is a sentient nonhuman sovereign of the Beast Realm, a massive mutable being whose nominal kingship becomes practically important when the beast clans must coordinate survival and migration.
Biography
Chapter 534
Emperor Yi presides over the Ten Thousand Beasts Conference as a ruler expected to reward service and punish failure fairly, even though the beast clans retain their own interests. When the Beast Realm faces catastrophe, he helps organize an escape across Nanming and the world boundary rather than treating kingship as ceremony. Negotiations involving Xu Ke and Mr Bai show a pragmatic sovereign willing to exchange techniques and recognition for concrete benefit. He accepts Emperor Erli's severed head as part of the settlement and supplies a propagation method that allows Rift Whales to devour and reproduce through the void. His decisions protect collective survival, while the grotesque plurality of heads in his body never makes him a mindless monster. (Chapters 534–539, 685, and 1080–1082)
Appearance and personality
Emperor Yi appears as an enormous gray, writhing mound or cloud of flesh from which different heads emerge and disappear. This mutable nonhuman body is paired with deliberate judgment: he is imposing, transactional, and attentive to the obligations of rule, especially equitable reward, punishment, and species-level survival. (Chapters 534–539 and 1080–1082)
Abilities and cultivation
Mutable many-headed body
Heads surface from and sink back into Emperor Yi's vast gray mass, giving his body no stable human anatomy. The corpus presents the transformation as his natural embodied state but does not define every head's independent power or a human-style realm ladder. (Chapters 534–539)
Beast-clan authority
He can convene the Ten Thousand Beasts Conference, adjudicate exchanges, and coordinate a mass migration. This is political and species authority supported by personal threat, not evidence of absolute obedience from every beast clan. (Chapters 534–539 and 685)
Void-devouring propagation method
Emperor Yi possesses knowledge that enables Rift Whales to propagate by consuming the void. He can transfer the method, but its mechanics are species-specific and are not shown as his own universal cultivation technique. (Chapters 1080–1082)
Relationships
- Xu Ke participates in negotiations through which Emperor Yi deals with outside powers.
- Mr Bai is treated as a counterpart whose proposed exchange can materially aid the beast clans.
Items
- Emperor Erli's head — Delivered to and accepted by Emperor Yi during negotiations; its later disposition is not specified. (Chapters 1080–1082)
