Cult Red Robes

The cult red robes are the enchanted scarlet garments reserved for the inner circle of the Esoteric Order of the Celestial Dragon. One robe becomes Jornak's signature disguise, hiding his face and voice so completely that Zorian and Zach know the unidentified third traveler simply as Red Robe; stolen copies later give the pair the same protection during infiltrations and provocations.

History

The third traveler's disguise

The unknown looper first confronts Zorian in a blood-red hooded robe that covers his entire body, turns the space beneath the hood into featureless darkness, and distorts his voice. The concealment prevents Zorian from identifying the man even at close range and makes the garment inseparable from the name Red Robe. Its embedded defenses are substantial but not absolute: bullets fired at point-blank range penetrate the protection and wound the wearer, forcing him to slow his pursuit. (Chapters 26–27)

A cult-made marvel

During an assault on the primordial ritual, Zorian sees six cult mages wearing robes identical to Red Robe's and learns that the garments are made exclusively for inner-circle members. They combine valuable scarletite thread and crimson sea silk with dense defensive enchantments and privacy wards. Zorian and Zach raid cultists for multiple copies, study them in a Black Room, and wear them to conceal their identities during the failed royal-palace break-in and a staged attack meant to lure Sudomir out of Iasku Mansion. The robes therefore shift from evidence linking the third traveler to the cult into operational tools used against that same organization. (Chapters 60–62 and 69)

Jornak unmasked

Jornak continues wearing the robe after Zorian identifies him, using its familiar silhouette through negotiations and the battle for Cyoria. The garment no longer protects his name from his enemies, but it still shields his body, obscures his face, and preserves the intimidating identity he cultivated across the loop. Fighting Zach leaves the real-world robe almost entirely shredded, demonstrating that sustained high-level combat can overwhelm or physically ruin even its expensive protections. Abilities and properties

• A cowl surrounds the wearer's face with a featureless patch of supernatural darkness, while the full-body cut conceals build, clothing, and other visual identifiers. (Chapter 26)
• Embedded privacy wards distort the wearer's voice and supplement ordinary anti-divination precautions. (Chapters 26 and 62)
• Scarletite thread and crimson sea silk make the robe both materially valuable and suitable for dense enchantment. (Chapter 61)
• Defensive magic protects the wearer from attacks, but point-blank gunfire can penetrate it and prolonged combat can leave the garment tattered or nearly destroyed. (Chapters 26 and 103–105)
• The robes are standardized inner-circle garments. A ritual leader's variant bears a stylized golden dragon, while the other observed examples closely match Jornak's. (Chapter 60)
