Professor Harsha Ram
Harsha Ram is Generasi University’s intimidating professor of force magic, a former warrior whose severe teaching style and absolute faith in force conceal a lasting commitment to every student he trains.
Biography
Benefits of the Talented to Movements in Sanctuaries of Magic and Faith
Ram teaches force as a versatile foundation while warning that it can be countered by other force, torn apart, or dispelled more easily than less pure magic. He initially sees unusual promise in Alex Roth, then interprets the Mark-hindered student’s uneven progress as a refusal to apply himself. Ram confronts him harshly and keeps pressing him toward force missile without knowing the hidden barrier, creating resentment but also ensuring Alex leaves with defensive spells and disciplined fundamentals that repeatedly preserve his life. (Chapters 64–122 and 135–311)
The Terror of Advancement to Alexander Roth, Wizard of Generasi
Years later, Ram enters the Duel by Proxy under a moniker and pits Prime, his mutable force construct, against Claygon. He drives the spell beyond efficient limits in pursuit of victory, but Alex identifies its direct-control, mana-drain, and feedback weaknesses and wins through teleportation tactics. After Alex returns to Generasi, the two finally speak openly: Ram refuses to call his effort wasted, notes that Alex still uses what he taught, acknowledges the burden of the Mark, and praises Alex’s nonverbal casting. Their disagreement remains, but the conversation transforms an old failure into mutual professional respect before Alex’s graduation. (Chapters 589–604 and 646–831)
Appearance and personality
Ram is a dark-complexioned human man with deep-set eyes, a thick, carefully sculpted black beard, severe robes, and a disciplined expression. His missing right arm is replaced by a deep-black force construct with less sensitive touch than flesh. He moves with military or mathematical precision, avoids liquids in his stark office, and speaks bluntly, yet remembers important conversations with struggling students and considers effort on their behalf intrinsically worthwhile. (Chapters 64–97 and 589–802)
Magic, abilities, and skills
Ram is a master of force magic capable of extremely fast, sometimes nonverbal casting. He uses force for flight, shields, missiles, manipulation, and a permanent-looking prosthetic arm whose fingers provide limited sensation. Force effects are powerful and adaptable but not indestructible: opposing force can block them, sufficient attacks can break them, and their magical purity makes them comparatively easy to dispel. (Chapters 64–122 and 741–802)
Prime is Ram’s signature combat construct, a vast mass of black force that can fire enormous bolts, reshape limbs into shields or weapons, flow around attacks, grapple, enlarge, and accelerate. Ram directly controls it and receives physical feedback from impacts; increasing its size and power burns mana rapidly, and it is not autonomous in the demonstrated match. Those limitations let Alex and Claygon exploit teleportation and attrition despite Prime’s overwhelming strength. (Chapters 589–594)
