Queen Ishtar

Queen Ishtar is the queen of Tekezash, wife of King Aksuma, and mother of Khalik Behr-Medr. A fire wizard marked by an early magical accident, she uses her experience to help Selina Roth confront fear of her own affinity, teaching control without pretending that fire is harmless. (Chapters 70, 574, 596–601)

Biography

Royal visit and Selina's fire lessons

Ishtar comes to Generasi with Aksuma to reunite with Khalik and assess the life he has built abroad. Warm toward her son but sharply observant, she studies Sinope before accepting the dryad's bond with him. Her most consequential choice is mentoring Selina: recalling the fire spell that once burned her, Ishtar teaches Create Flame and first-tier Control Flame, frames mastery as the answer to fear, and refuses to make Selina's talent a competition. After blessing Khalik and Sinope, she returns to Tekezash with an invitation for the family to visit. (Chapters 574, 596–612)

Appearance and personality

Ishtar is tall and willowy, wearing precise but relatively plain clothing and bracers. A burn scar runs from her chin down her neck, a visible reminder of an early fire spell that escaped her control. She is affectionate, discerning, patient as a teacher, and secure enough to tell Selina that the girl might surpass her without treating that possibility as a threat. (Chapters 574, 596–601)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Ishtar has a strong affinity for fire magic. She demonstrates glowing Wizard's Hands to draw spell arrays and teaches the fire spells Create Flame and first-tier Control Flame, explaining how deliberate control can keep affinity from becoming avoidance or recklessness. Her own scar demonstrates that failed control has physical consequences. The chapters do not show her in combat or establish her highest spell tier, so broader offensive capabilities should not be assumed. (Chapters 596–601)
