Eldin

Eldin is a priest and field leader in Uldar's hidden church, serving the Third Apostle Izas as an observer, infiltrator, and assassin. His unwavering devotion makes him both an effective agent and an easy target for the Ravener-spawn that impersonate divine servants, while his final attack on Merzhin and Carey leaves him unable to escape the stone around him. (Chapters 311–312, 610–631)

Biography

Covert service under Izas

Eldin reports on the Heroes, Generasi, and demon activity to Izas, presenting information with the discipline of a man accustomed to dangerous work. His scarred, calloused hands and caution around the apostle suggest a violent professional history without defining its details. When assigned to watch Rioran, he conceals his allegiance and studies the suspect rather than confronting him, establishing the patient surveillance that later shapes his operations. (Chapters 311–312, 336)

Hidden-church campaign and death in stone

As the hidden church moves against the Heroes, Eldin commands disguised agents, researches Merzhin, and uses Carey's abduction to test whether the Saint can be redirected. His absolute faith leads him to accept humanoid Ravener-spawn as Uldar's servants even when their forms trouble him. The trap fails: Eldin's attempted killing stroke cannot overcome a warned Saint, Carey's blast catches him while he is merged with rock, and terror prevents him from using divinity to leave before death. Later church members remember him as a lost servant, not as a survivor. (Chapters 550–631, 644, 656, 696)

Appearance and personality

Eldin is squat and powerfully built, with scarred, calloused hands. He is observant, controlled, and capable of carefully tailoring his words to a target, yet he admits that preparation rather than natural talent underlies his manipulation. His defining trait is uncompromising devotion: he claims he would kill his own mother at Uldar's command, and that certainty blinds him to deception before breaking into panic when he faces death. (Chapters 311–312, 610–615, 631)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Eldin can merge into earth and stone, using solid ground for concealment, movement, and retreat. He also assumes animal forms, including a bull elk, and coordinates agents disguised as wolves and deer. His priestly divinity supports prayer and apparently offers a way to leave the rock that traps him, but fear prevents him from acting in time. He is an experienced assassin, investigator, and field commander; these skills fail against Merzhin once the Saint is warned and against Carey's explosive intervention. (Chapters 555–556, 610–611, 621–631)
