Zia Rain

Zia Rain is Irene Barielle Aetherion's right hand, combining the Replica stigmata with Crusader combat, disguise, surveillance, and practical management. Her loyalty is highly personal: she anticipates Irene's business needs, acts as her covert representative, and ultimately infiltrates an imperial prison to rescue her. That devotion also drives Zia beyond instructions, producing unnecessary confrontations and finally placing her inside a trap built from Franz's puppet bodies. Biography

Role in the Supplied Story

Zia first operates as the unseen “Celine” contacted by Irene and reproduces a suspicious invitation for her investigation. She quickly emerges as more than an information asset: as Irene's driver and aide, she researches alternate locations for the café, prepares negotiations before Irene asks, tracks political and religious rumors, and coordinates contact with Gambino personnel. Her reliability rests on understanding how Irene thinks, while her occasional possessiveness—complaining that Irene already has her when new underworld connections are discussed—shows that the position is also the center of her emotional and material security. Irene sends Zia to invite Vanitas Astrea, but Zia turns the delivery into an armed test by throwing a dagger and holding a blade to his neck. She is briefly surprised and pinned, then uses her Crusader advantage to overpower him before university security pressures both sides away from open combat. Zia later admits the threat was her own initiative, not Irene's order, and observes that she and Vanitas share an espionage-minded way of reading people.
