Whale Tribe Conch

The Whale Tribe Conch is a blue-glowing seashell horn given to Cale as part of the Whale Tribe's formal gifts. When blown, it carries a summons across the sea and allows Faseton to answer with allied whales.

History

Summons at Hais Island

During the operation against the mermaids and Arm at Hais Island, Cale removes the conch from his magic bag and blows it. The shell glows blue, and Faseton responds to the signal as the Whale Tribe joins the battle. The conch turns Cale's earlier alliance with Witira and Seakeller into immediate military support. Abilities and properties

• A blast from the shell summons or alerts members of the Whale Tribe over a great distance at sea. (Chapter 20)
• The shell continues glowing after it is blown, permitting Faseton's response to reach Cale. (Chapter 20)
• Its function depends on Cale's recognized relationship with the Whale Tribe; the corpus does not establish it as a general-purpose communication device. (Chapter 20)
