Lie
Lie is a mutable accessory that grants genuine physical disguise, selected Magician abilities, and later a demonstrated high-level theft effect. Its understated danger is psychological: wearing it amplifies existing emotions and can make the perfected identity feel more desirable than the wearer's real self.
History
Audrey's guarded disguise
Audrey Hall owns Lie by its first appearance and names it as a warning against dependence. It can become a necklace or silver mask, perfect her looks, and conceal her identity during sensitive operations. Audrey removes it before exploring her own dreams because its emotional amplification could turn a controlled experiment into psychological harm. She later uses its Flame Controlling and lends or sacrifices the mask through Tarot Club rituals when disguise is essential. (Chapters 557, 1003, 1050, 1062, and 1098)
Reward and shared field equipment
Madam Justice gives Lie to Lumian Lee as payment for recovering water from the Samaritan Women's Spring. Lumian favors a silver-white earring form and uses it to reproduce Aurore, Franca, officials, and invented identities. Because it can be carried harmlessly while inactive, he repeatedly lends it to Franca, Lugano, Ludwig, Anthony, and Jenna for infiltration. During the dream-city operation the group passes the earring between combatants and civilians, combining its physical changes with makeup, suggestion, and forged identities. (Chapters 1794–1798, 1941, 2002, 2242–2245, and 2351–2419)
After Lie is transformed on the ancestral altar in Milo Village, it temporarily carries a high-level stealing power that Lumian uses to redirect the sea ritual's stellar force and steal a Priest of Light ability. The corpus demonstrates the altered effect and says it persists for half a month, but does not fully explain the transformation's mechanism; it should not be retroactively treated as part of Audrey's earlier version. (Chapters 2012 and 2016–2017)
Abilities and properties
- While worn, Lie physically adjusts facial features, hair, voice, build, clothing details, and height within roughly ten centimeters. It can imitate either sex's appearance but does not itself change biological sex. Close study or an inaccurate reference can still expose a disguise, and other tools are often added for suggestion or paperwork. (Chapters 1794, 1941, 2002, 2180, and 2413)
- The accessory can assume forms such as necklaces, masks, and earrings. It grants enhanced danger perception, balance, agility, Flame Controlling, and Damage Transfer. Following its Milo Village transformation, it also supplies high-level theft for half a month and can redirect an enormous incoming power, although absorbing too much would crush the user. (Chapters 1003, 1050, 1794, and 2012–2017)
- Existing emotions are amplified whenever it is worn. It does not create an emotion from nothing, but vanity, anger, grief, desire, or recklessness can become dangerous; Audrey fears dependence on its perfected beauty, and Lumian avoids combining it with other emotion-distorting items. Removing or storing it ends the active influence. (Chapters 557, 1794, and 1796)
