Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Viscount Stratford serves as a captain of the royal guards and is fiercely loyal to King George III. Shermane approaches him romantically as part of Trissy's attempt to penetrate the royal conspiracy, and Stratford appears considerate enough for her feelings to become real. In truth, after Sikes's death alerts him to danger, he uses the relationship to draw out Trissy and arrives prepared with Katarina and a powerful purification artifact. (Chapters 862, 1019, 1020)

Stratford reveals that his apparent affection never outweighed duty and attempts to purge Trissy and Shermane. Xio and Fors disrupt the confrontation, capture him, and force an interrogation. He admits his absolute loyalty to the king and reveals that Mason Dere was executed for discovering a royal secret, but a safeguard activates before Stratford can fully expose George III's plan, collapsing his body into a burst of blood and killing him. Appearance and personality

Stratford is a middle-aged man with sharply cut features, a receding hairline, and messy black hair when he is not wearing the white wig expected of his station. He is patient, disciplined, and capable of performing tenderness for an extended period. His defining trait is uncompromising loyalty: he treats personal intimacy as expendable and accepts extreme secrecy measures in service of the king. [Chapter 1019] [Chapter 1023]

Pathways and abilities

Stratford is a Sequence 5 Disciplinary Paladin of the Arbiter pathway. He can impose restrictions, designate prohibited acts, punish violations, use Psychic Piercing, and fight with a strengthened body and authoritative control. Relationships

George III is the object of Stratford's overriding loyalty. Shermane sincerely loves him, but he treats her as bait and an expendable participant in the trap for Trissy. Items

Stratford carries the Unshadowed Crucifix, an ancient bronze cross activated with blood that releases intense purifying light at demigod level. It substantially strengthens his trap, but it does not prevent his eventual capture. [Chapter 1021] [Chapter 1022]
