Biography

Encounters Across Both Eras

Roy led Biles, Phil, and Pasha, four low-Sequence Beyonders displaced by war who entered Belltaine while the town was trapped under the rules of the Grade 0 Sealed Artifact 0-02. He kept the group calm, tested the town's contradictory laws, and cooperated with the arriving Merlin Hermes instead of wasting lives on pride. Their observations and willingness to follow carefully worded instructions helped them survive while Merlin resolved the artifact's escalating judgments (Chapters 1281–1289)

After the crisis, Roy asked Merlin to help the group advance. He explained that he had become a Warrior by directly consuming a Sequence 9 characteristic, and Merlin granted the wish by providing the corresponding Sequence 8 Pugilist characteristic while advising proper formulas and supplementary ingredients. Roy possessed the next characteristic and survived Belltaine, but the corpus does not confirm that he consumed it or advanced. This Roy is distinct from Roy King and from the later Le Roy family (Chapter 1290)

Appearance and personality

Roy has a typical Loenese appearance and the weathered bearing of a wartime wanderer. He is observant, practical, and protective of his companions, asserting leadership through calm reasoning rather than domination. His readiness to question dangerous assumptions is central to the group's survival under 0-02's rules (Chapters 1281–1289)

Pathways and abilities

Roy is confirmed as a Sequence 9 Warrior, having swallowed the characteristic without a potion formula. He has enhanced strength, agility, stamina, weapon skill, and close-combat instincts. Merlin later gives him a Sequence 8 Pugilist characteristic, but ownership is not proof of advancement, and no subsequent scene confirms Pugilist abilities (Chapters 1281–1290)
