Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Qonas Kilgor was a brigadier general and deputy director of MI9 who publicly appeared to be a Sequence 5 Beyonder reliant on dangerous artifacts. In secret, George III had supplied the formula, ingredients, and opportunity for him to become a Sequence 4 Earl of the Fallen. Qonas protected the royal conspiracy around the Blood Emperor ruins, human disappearances, and the king's apotheosis while moving comfortably through military intelligence and Backlund high society (Chapters 889, 997, 1012–1025).

Klein Moretti, acting as Dwayne Dantès, befriended Qonas and lured him to Maygur Manor. Klein prepared for both the demigod's pathway and his artifacts, then controlled his Spirit Body Threads. Qonas cycled through Distortion, Disorder, Magnify, artifacts, and a contemplated partial Mythical Creature release, but random anomalies turned critical efforts against him. Once he became a marionette, Arianna extracted information from his soul about the ruins and George III. Klein concealed the death by making Qonas appear to vanish, and later use of the body or Historical Void projections did not restore the man (Chapters 1025–1031, 1080, 1181).

Appearance and personality

Qonas has dark-blue eyes, a neat crew cut, and the disciplined bearing of a senior military intelligence officer. He presents himself as courteous and controlled in high society. In combat he is experienced, highly analytical, and decisive enough to abandon an artifact when its side effects become too dangerous. His loyalty to the king rests partly on advancement and reward, while his resistance during interrogation shows professional compartmentalization rather than ignorance of wrongdoing (Chapters 997, 1012–1030).

Pathways and abilities

As a Sequence 4 Earl of the Fallen of the Black Emperor pathway, Qonas could qualitatively enhance Distortion and Bribe, exploit loopholes, magnify effects, disrupt order and measurements, and produce unreasonable bestowals or deprivations. He could extend a midair state into flight, shorten distances, redirect attacks, weaken lethal force, and twist intentions within limits; Distortion could not produce literally unlimited contradictions. Releasing his incomplete Mythical Creature form risked madness and the loss of his human self (Chapters 1025–1029).

• Réver's Shout of Despair: Revolver that fired without bullets and carried a dead man's despair; its wielder also heard the damaging cry.
• Luck-enhancing mystical item: Equipment sought to offset the Concerto's randomness, effective only imperfectly at critical moments.
