Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Patrick Bryan was a Loenese merchant saved from fatal illness during an Artificial Death ritual, then raised through the Death pathway as an experimental subject who sincerely believed the faction had awakened its god. When the Evernight Goddess gained influence over Artificial Death, Patrick received a revelation ordering him to obey Dwayne Dantès. He accepted Klein as Death's Blessed and placed the Backlund faction, his reports, and his messenger at Klein's disposal (Chapters 976–993)

Patrick zealously reported even minor developments and followed Klein's delaying instructions when his superiors demanded dangerous awakening rituals. When his teacher Haiter ordered a rite that could directly inspect him, Klein used an Angel's Embrace to protect Patrick's mind and preserve the deception. Patrick completed the ritual, accepted a suspicious Gatekeeper assistant, and remained loyal without realizing the larger Evernight strategy behind his revelation (Chapters 1016–1081)

Appearance and personality

Patrick is a thin, middle-aged Loenese man with black hair, brown eyes, a long face, and sharply cut features. His cold demeanor resembles a cemetery at night without feeling personally hostile. He is fervently religious, obedient, earnest, and intelligent enough to analyze instructions, though his faith makes him exceptionally trusting toward a perceived divine representative.

Pathways and abilities

Patrick is a Sequence 4 Undying of the Death pathway. He commands spirits, travels through the spirit world, flies with spiritual assistance, performs Spirit Dances and Death rituals, and exudes an intense cold surrounded by invisible creatures. His Undying rank permits resurrection under pathway conditions, but it does not make him invulnerable or free from higher-Sequence control.
