Life in Klein's Era

Pacheco Dwayne first appeared as Framis Cage's solicitor and business partner during negotiations for the Backlund Bike Company. He argued terms against Jurgen and helped formalize a venture built around Leppard's invention; Klein sensed an unusual familiarity and wondered whether Pacheco or Framis had influenced the negotiations, but never confirmed supernatural interference. Years later, the same Pacheco served as deputy director of the Loen Relic Search and Preservation Foundation's Compliance Department. He joined Barton's search for Vernal, recognized the bloody envelope and hidden pencil message as serious evidence, used institutional and police channels, and kept questioning the corrupted archaeologist without losing composure. (Chapters 1395–1400)

After the confrontation, Pacheco judged that Vernal's side and the Tamara-associated woman were hostile parties with no innocent participant, so he favored police monitoring and containment over naïve intervention. He survived the incident and continued at the Foundation when Alicia Tamara arrived as a fellow deputy director. (Chapters 1400–1402)

Appearance and personality

Pacheco had common black hair, brown eyes, an unremarkable face, and winter clothing that included a heavy black coat and gray scarf. He was legally precise, alert to anomalies, calm under supernatural pressure, and pragmatic enough to separate institutional duty from moral assumptions about unfamiliar factions. Pathways and abilities

Pacheco may have been a Beyonder, but the corpus never confirms a pathway, Sequence, or power. His demonstrated strengths were legal negotiation, compliance investigation, analysis of physical clues, institutional authority, and emotional control; Klein's early suspicion of influence remains only a suspicion. Relationships

Framis Cage was Pacheco's early business partner and client, while Barton became his colleague in the Vernal investigation. His encounter with Vernal and Alicia Tamara placed him between competing Fourth Epoch legacies without establishing him as an ally of either. (Chapters 410–1402)
