Negan
Biography
Life in Klein's Era
Duke Pallas Negan is Loen's most influential noble outside the royal family, a leading Conservative Party figure, and one of the kingdom's greatest landowners. He survives Qilangos's attack at a ball through outside intervention, demonstrating both the enemies drawn by his power and the layers of protection surrounding him. In politics he is willing to discuss wages, working hours, and Poor Law reform, but opposes changes that would weaken property-based control of elections. (Chapters 188, 189, 423)
Negan's confidence in his standing also creates private vulnerabilities. While traveling to meet a mistress, he is targeted by a Desire Apostle whose manipulation amplifies his terror and breaks through the protection available to him. Negan dies before rescue can arrive, and the investigation traces the assassination commission to the Twilight Hermit Order, turning his personal death into a major political and occult crisis. (Chapters 423, 425, 427, 429)
Appearance and personality
Negan appears in a dark-blue admiral-style uniform suited to his rank and political presence. He is authoritative, pragmatic, and conscious of class interests. He can acknowledge that workers' conditions require reform and scorn indebted nobles who contribute little, but his sympathy stops where reforms threaten the property and voting power of his own order. His private appetites and certainty in institutional protection make him easier to isolate than his public stature suggests. [Chapter 423]
Pathways and abilities
Negan is explicitly a Sequence 6 Beyonder, but the corpus does not establish his pathway or a detailed set of personal abilities. His rank is not enough to save him from the Desire Apostle's carefully prepared emotional attack. Much of his effective power comes instead from political influence, noble retainers, and support from the Church of the Lord of Storms. [Chapter 423] [Chapter 425]
Relationships
Negan's elder brother serves as prime minister, linking the family directly to Loen's government. His position makes him an important political representative of the Church of the Lord of Storms and the Conservative Party. Qilangos first targets him publicly, while the Desire Apostle succeeds in killing him under a commission associated with the Twilight Hermit Order. [Chapter 189] [Chapter 423] [Chapter 429]
Items
Negan carries a blue conch supplied by the Church of the Lord of Storms that can summon the demigod Ace Snake in an emergency. He also uses ordinary medicines, including mummy powder, but these do not prevent the assassin from exploiting his desires and fear. [Chapter 423] [Chapter 425]
