Monette
Biography
Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse
Monette first appeared as an Islander swindler who cheated Charlie and cultivated an unsettling monocled following at Salle de Bal Unique. He repeatedly crossed Lumian’s path in Underground Trier, stealing or redirecting key materials and frightening both Lumian and the sealed Termiboros. Those encounters kept Lumian focused on Monette while making him overlook the Earth Blood ore’s “return,” demonstrating that the apparent coincidences were deliberate distractions (Chapters 1701–1791)
Fors later identified Monette as a deeply parasitized incarnation of Amon rather than an independent swindler merely backed by an angel. Drawings and later reports continued to use Monette’s form as a possible Amon intervention, including during the mirror-world crisis and the catacombs investigations. The host’s separate will is never shown again; the active identity is Amon’s avatar (Chapters 1814, 2164–2184)
Appearance and personality
Monette presents as an Islander man wearing a monocle over his right eye, the signature that makes Lumian immediately wary. He is playful, evasive, manipulative, and fond of frightening targets without explaining his purpose. Those traits belong to Amon’s incarnation; the original host’s personality cannot be reliably separated after deep Parasitism.
Pathways and abilities
Monette’s relevant powers come from Amon, an angel of the Marauder pathway. They include Parasitism, avatar creation, theft, deception, concealment, and the ability to distribute awareness through many hosts or small creatures. The precise strength available to this single incarnation changes with Amon’s allocation and is not safely measured by Monette’s outward appearance.
